I feel like they are hiding the truth about suicides from us at large. Both in numbers and the most frequent methods because life is so shitty there would be a tsunami of copy cats. I don't trust that they report even half of them.

For example if you research sodium nitrite as a method you find out it's very popular. However if you try to search for media reports on it it's like a total black out with just a few stories. Anytime I've seen a news report where they mention someone CTBing they just say "committed suicide" without any details. I think ctb by gun and ctb by hanging are the most well known so they don't cover it up as much. I know suicides went up during the covid 19 pandemic and economic crash here in the states but no one actually talks about the individual acts.

I agree but I have something to add to that...
So many suicides are not recorded as suicides at all, often the coroner (?whoever decides these things) says that because there was no note they can't be sure so it gets recorded as an accidental or unexplained death.
A friend of mine suicided by illegal drugs overdose (I'm not sure what exactly) & their death was recorded as a heart attack (possibly they may have said heart attack due to overdose but I don't know), they completely ignored that it was actually suicide despite the fact that my friend had been highly distressed & telling people (including mental health professionals) that they were going to kill themselves for approx two weeks before.

[The conclusion reached by acting Area Coroner Samantha Marsh was Mr Sinuraya's death was drug related.

She said it would be "unsafe" to record a verdict of suicide as there was "nothing to suggest Wira took the sodium nitrate with the intention of ending his own life".

"Wira took or ingested at least 100 times the safe dose," said Ms Marsh.

"That is the level taken at the time (of his post mortem).

"The level ingested is likely to be higher and it is higher than previous recorded fatalities."]

No laws in Australia. Just guidelines that major media outlets align themselves with. DailyMail for example doesn't follow these guidelines, and they will go into full details for ctb's.

It's a dead giveaway however that it's a suicide when they put the suicide hotline number at the bottom of the article.

Not exactly. For example here's the rules for NZ....

The law and suicide reporting
To help protect vulnerable people there are some restrictions in New Zealand on what can be made public about a suicide or suspected suicide. These are set out in Section 71 of the Coroners Act 2006. The Act was amended in 2016 to clarify the restrictions.

Unless you have an exemption from the chief coroner, you can't make public:

• the method or suspected method of the death
• any detail (like the place of death) that might suggest the method or suspected method of the death
• a description of the death as a suicide before the coroner has released their findings and stated the death was a suicide (although the death can be described as a suspected suicide before then).

'Making public' doesn't just mean news reports and other media – it includes things like public posts on Facebook too. Individuals and media may apply to the chief coroner for an exemption to these restrictions.

In the UK suicide reporting is very restricted the people who make the headlines are celebrities, very beautiful people, rich, shocking stories of murder suicide but in general it's hush, hush. An example I'm in the UK and watching This Morning, a day time TV show 3 weeks ago and they interviewed the helath minister and they said about suicide in lockdown and he let slip the UK has epidemic suicides levels and I searched online but all the statistics are from 2019.

Will we ever be back to normal so many job loses and companies going bust, new employee's will be on very low starting salaries just able to survive the Governments will use the virus to increase taxes and justify it by saying how many billions of pounds they spent, I don't think life will ever be the same, shows you how corrupt they are, Covid-19 cure within 2 years but can't find a cure for the common cold or herpes, lol but when they find a vaccination for Covid-19 who wants to take it, God knows what the side effects will be there will be millions of people who won't have it. What would be interesting if in later years it turns out that one of the side effects is1 in every 100 are infertile and can't have children. Now that would be an X File, lol.

This is something that has been playing on my mind recently. I'm from the UK and my local newspaper seems to really love reporting suicides and inquest verdicts. If you search this site for sodium nitrite suicides in the news there's at least 3 reports from my area in the last year and 1 that sounds like a gas/carbon minoxide suicide.
I was concidering using sn myself but the reports I've read on here have really put me off because they're really dramatic mentioning hazmat suits and evacuating neighbours houses and police needing treatment for poisoning.

Celebrities, of course get featured. If you are a politician or very rich/successful businessman you may end up in the big news, but mostly certain will become local news. Young adults and teenagers are very likely to be talked about. Attractive people also got higher chances to be featured.

Because reporters don't win awards by reporting about suicides.
Because it's not always obvious that it's suicide.
Because some countries don't allow deaths to be reported until after the inquest.
Because some families request that it be kept out of the news.
Because not all cops leak information to reporters.......etc.....etc......etc

Perhaps you should write your own story, leave it in an envelope with the name of a newspaper, or specific reporter (probably one that you've seen report suicide stories before), beside your body.

Average American isn't smart enough for such wizardry.

Perhaps you should write your own story, leave it in an envelope with the name of a newspaper, or specific reporter (probably one that you've seen report suicide stories before), beside your body.

Nobody is using hazmat suits for sn poisoning lol.

The ctb that makes the news are people who were well known or liked in their community, or had some especially unusual circumstance. Less reporting now anyway due to COVID-19 as others have said, because of social agendas.

Yes they are, I'm not sure why though.
In this article I posted earlier it says,
"Emergency services declared a hazmat incident upon discovery of the bags."
And I've seen it in another article but I can't find it at the moment.
