The complete saying is "the blood of the revenant is thicker than water of the womb", it's those people twisting it to support their claimAlso "blood is thicker than water" is used alot of times to guilt the victim of family abuse into helping or sticking with the abusers never heard a good use of this proverb
The word "Gift" means "poison" in my tongue.life is a gift
I agree with this. Who even gets to decide what's worse? They're comparing apples and oranges a lot of the time.'At least'... as in- you tell someone you're really struggling and they come out with: 'At least you don't have this or that to deal with.' It's often the start of a pain olympics with them. It's similar to the whole: 'Other people have it worse.'
The very worst thing is- sometimes I even say it to myself or, to others. I try to bite my tongue though. It's just ingrained in us though. The whole: 'It could be worse... At least it isn't.'
Also: 'Things will get better' pisses me off! It's so low effort and dismissive.
Oh, I've always hated this, ever since I was small. I never understood why people say that. How is it supposed to help me? That saying just means that more people are suffering which, honestly, aint good."You're not alone with this"
Now what? Will this get me a person, besides myself that appears all of the sudden and tries to help me navigating through this huge question mark we call life? Is it supposed to make me feel less lonely? Am I supposed to think that there's people like me that suffer the same pain? How is that supposed to help? People that are suffering the same way as I do still suffer or they wouldn't be having the same struggles as I do.
It's a hollow phrase from people that want to help but can't so they push it to someone else. What a great society. It certainly doesn't help my feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, loneliness and faint just to name a few.
