The whole thing with the NYT made me really paranoid. I had psychosis and a lot of paranoia in the past. One paranoid thought is journalists are currently working on a story about my life for their newspaper. I was sometimes quite convinced about that. Though when I think rational about it it is extremely unlikely due to the fact I am not the founder of this website.
However call me crazy but I am pretty sure there are a lot of journalists in this forum in order to do research. I could also imagine some scientists studying suicide folks. The NYT is for many journalists a role model. Also for media where I live.
I am pretty sure there will be way more articles about this forum. Though I am not sure whether they will be like the one in the NYT. I think many critize the way how they mentioned SN and saying the whole name of this website. It is like they wanted to cause the Streisand effect. It is fact there are a lot of new members due to this article. (Though I do not trust some of them but this is another story...)
I am not sure when they will publish the articles about this website. I am not exactly sure if they are informed about the investigations. Maybe they will wait till this forum is down in order to publish their articles. Because some of them don't want to cause attention. (The investigations are quite scary though I have read some jurisdiction laymen saying being member in such a forum would not be a crime in my country. Otherwise I would not be here anymore. I don't why I mention it it is just my defense I guess.)
Back to the topic. I am imagining who could now report next about this forum. Like the NYT is a pretty huge outlet. I think the only news outlet which could have a similar impact might be Tucker Carlson's show. This would be just so insane. Though I doubt the topic would fit into the show.
I am following the media in my country closely. I could very well imagine that there are some German journalists currently in this forum. Here are my bets: (though I hate betting it is just a saying). I think STRG_F could very well fit into this topic. They often do reports about stigmatized topics which also are a part of young people's life. For example their story about erectile dysfunction or this gore forum. This would be my first guess.
Second one: Der Spiegel. I read it often. They do a lot of investigative research. They made a huge research about one of the biggest German pornwebsites and how evil the website is. I think they are right about that one.
I am not saying they would make a better job than the NYT but I would give them a chance for more nuances.
(When I think more about it I am not 100% if this forum gets more international attention but why not?)

Okay I will make this post even longer. I ask myself how they made this consideration. Like it must have been obvious for them that many new members will find the website and SN after they published the full name. Have they said it is okay that some people are now going to this website and kill themselves due to the story if on the other side this website is longterm going down and more lives will be saved? Some even considered to commit suicide because they were afraid that the source of SN will stop or other things like that.
This must have been their reasoning? Doesn't it? I try to think about it as if I were neutral about this website. I do not want to make them a gulity conscience. But some of the stuff unherd.com said had some grain of truth.
