Which substances/drugs do you think have made or produced the best musical artists and albums? If you have a specific artist, band, song, or album in mind feel free to comment it below. Most people say that it's cocaine so I am curious as to what the results will be.

definitely weed, followed by psychedelics (LSD and shrooms)
both improve creativity (specifically poetry aswell for weed, which is useful for rap lyricism), while not causing any brain damage like some other drugs

I voted "Other" because the first thing that popped into my mind was love/sex. All the songs about it, inspired by it, all the artists addicted to it over the ages. Truly, the drug of choice for many an artist, yes?

I did not consider that one but this comment immediately made me think of those Buckcherry videos on catatonicyouths youtube channel (they're horrible and cringey but entertaining)

but yeah so many big hits are about that but I'd say that it's better for music in the past than in the present although I am not a love song fan

in the present I think more songs are about sex over love and then most current love songs I've heard in passing are about bad relationships or cheating or situationships or mention a romantic interest or current partner in correlation to an ex or whatever

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you here. Have you listened to any Sabrina Carpenter? It's good when you're in the mood for it (I've recently decided to allow myself to enjoy mainstream pop again and it's been bringing me joy, so w/e). But her music is SO HORNY!

I know. Mainstream pop has been likened to the fast food of music. I agree. And I don't care anymore, haha. It's engineered to be addictive, and I'm tired of fighting it. It can't be any worse for my brain than all the microplastics already in it.

not only addictive I'd say but also to be as quoteable as possible with the rise of short and fast content on the internet but this can either be good for an artist or cause them to be a one hit or a one lyric wonder (or to only be known for a meme) at a faster pace than before

"wow I like this snippet let me listen to the full song"

"the full song is terrible"

I'd go with psychedelics. I found of the guitarist of my fave band wrote their first record during DMT psychosis and the singer does shrooms everytime they record

I think drugs have influenced certain facets of media such as music genres of the time can be heavily influenced by the popular narcotics of that time
