Help Where to start with recovery?

I have wanted to kill myself for my entire life but I don't want to do that to my family. Where do I even start with getting help? Talking to my doctor? Find a therapist? I feel really overwhelmed and any advice would be appreciated!

Talking to your doctor is one option. It depends on your relationship with them and their comfort with mental illness.

If you can find a therapist that can relate to you and what you are going through, they can be an important part of your plan going forward.

Getting in touch with any type of professional who can help you directly or refer you to someone with expertise is a solid first move. Maybe call one of your local suicide lines to get more information?

I'd recommend finding a doctor and therapist ASAP. Wait times can be long. Message your PCP for a psychiatry referral. PCPs usually don't know anything.
