Discussion whats the story behind your username?

I suppose the question is self explanatory.

My username was personally from a time where I was much more optimistic about life and I figured, I guess im the one and only happy person to be suicidal.

Though that doesn't apply much to me anymore!

it's a reference to my computer science degree, specifically one of the most annoying classes I had to take, data structures and algorithms! when I had to write code in C++ for that class, I had to make sure there were no memory leaks—that is, if some line in the code allocates memory, the memory has to be released again before the program is done running. if it's not released, then that causes a memory leak. and my code sometimes had a LOT of them, it was a pain to find out the source of the leaks ^^;

It's a very long story. In a nutshell — it's a short version of one of my nicknames. Which is, in turn, a derivative of another nickname I had. Which was basically a form of my pseudonym. And said pseudonym is a name related to the real one.

[Canto XIII]

I've already written it somewhere on here, but canto XIII is the canto of Dante's Divine Comedy where Dante and Vergil meet the souls of people who have died by suicide (and those of squanderers). The suicides are transmuted into living trees and plants, since they refused their own bodies, and for that reason the episode is often reffered to as la Selva dei Suicidi. After the Final Judgment, they'll get their mortal bodies back like everyone else, but instead of reinhabiting them like regular deceased will do, they'll have them hanged from their branches. The main character Dante meets here is Pier delle Vigne, an Italian poet and statesman who killed himself out of contempt and spite after he was unfairly convicted by his lord, emperor Frederick II. My PFP also references this episode (it's one of the many engravings Gustav Doré made about the Comedy).

I had initially thought of naming myself Porphyry in reference to Leopardi's Dialogue of Plotinus and Porphyry, which is also about suicide, but it was already taken.

Though that doesn't apply much to me anymore!

I combined limen as in "the smallest detectable sensation", and lux as in Latin for "light". Putting these words together means nothing to me, but it's fun to say. Try it.

Initially my preferred method was through pure nitrogen asphyxiation and genous means containing something or made of something (if I die through nitrogen asphyxiation, technically part of me will be filled with nitrogen) and genous also sounds like a genius :)

I like considering myself a pearl, roughed up and smoothed by all my live living in a shell, fluorescent cus I've seen fluorescence to be associated to ghosts.. So basically a ghost of what once was a pearl, just a husk that looks pretty and glows a bit, eventually it'll stop glowing and just dim out
