Serious question, with several methods to ctb costing into the several hundreds and having high risk to fail why not a shotgun? You can buy a used secondhand one for less than $500 even $200 in some places, me personally I just couldn't imagine even trying that, what about yall?

There are 2 guns in my boyfriend's safe, but I told him I didn't want to know the safe code years ago when we first got together. I was drinking heavily back then, and I didn't trust myself not to use the guns on myself. At that time, I did not want to die.

So I guess my answer to the OP question is:
(1) I'm scared because I don't know how to use the guns, and
(2) I don't have access to the safe anyway

Fear of it not working and being left disfigured or with brain damage. Not wanting to traumatize whoever finds me, whether or not it works. I also have no idea how to use a gun lol

To get a gun you need a permit and copious amounts of money to buy a good one thats not going to just blow your face off and still leave you alive. Using a gun doesnt seem worth it tbh.

There are tons of factors that can stop individuals.

Making a mess has been something i've really considered and I wouldn't want to make a mess in my own home, It takes awhile to clean up and can affect the value of your home, it can cause a lot of issues for your family with appraisals of the home.

When individuals CTB inside their own home, in the United States there could be an investigation by your local law enforcement agency, if you live with anyone then they would have to see the mess that was created while the LEOs conduct their investigation.

Legality is another thing, if it's not your firearm then it could cause quite a lot of issues for the individual that owns that firearm.

Mostly living in a no-fun-allowed country. Though recently I have been excessively worried about failure if I were to acquire a gun. I have found conflicting information in regards to the best way to aim and where you want to hit.

being in the UK. I already know for near certainty that if I lived in the US and had access to a high gauge shotgun I'd do it immediately.

Nothing is stopping me, I just don't feel bad enough yet. Ironically my guns are preventing me from seeking proper help, because I don't want to lose the guns themselves, and because it is my favourite hobby. I am very attached to all my possessions, I feel the same way about my car and my fridge too. But shooting is the only thing that gets me to go outside, aside from working. On the days I sleep too long and there are too few daylight hours left, like this time of year, I just stay in unless I have to work.

The mess. Been to enough calls of poor tortured folk painting Picassos on their bedroom walls to know I prefer a cleaner way if punching my ticket.

Reminding myself how I felt walking into my first, I don't wish that mental imagery on anyone, so I'd prefer to appear as intact as possible.

Outdoors in the woods or wilderness is the answer to the mess problem.

The reason? That one inch movement of your index finger is so hard to do.

I envy those who have access to that option eventhough it's not peaceful method, but it's still better than non accesible peaceful methods.

Even though I'm in a lot of physical pain now, I fear I'll be laying there even with my head blown off somehow in physical pain. Mouth angled with the most powerful caliber id still be worried going out in excruciating pain.

Nothing stopping me! I already did it. That is why I am Deaf! My mistake was buying a gun from a Drug dealer who sold me shit gun. Put it to my head just above the ear and pulled the trigger. It blew up in my hand tore open my arm side of my neck/face and blew out my eardrum. I have since procured a very nice one like I had in the military. I tested it. Works fine! But my day is not here yet. Tomorrow is another day. Dam!
Peace.

Honestly using a gun just freaks me out. I worry I'd mess it up and end up a vegetable, or for how long I'd… be aware, I guess? Like how long am I going to realize I pulled the trigger and feel the pain. Also I don't really wanna traumatize those that would find me or have to clean up.

I've been in 27 mental hospitals, so I'm not sure if anyone would give me a gun. I've never had any of that put in any kind of legal records, but I'd prefer to not find out.

I've owned many guns (all while flowing with SI and depression) and I'm a pretty decent shot. I really, really like shooting and it was so calming, even cleaning them was fine, just throw in a movie and do the work. I didn't and won't use one just to not give the anti-gun crowd another "oh look gun nut suicide" example. I will purposely choose a different method (have it).

Because guns are a lot like promiscuous women, running into the hands of the socially privileged and the rich, and are becoming harder to get and more elusive as time goes by.

At some point in the not so distant future, getting a gun might be as difficult as catching a trophy wife or husband; nearly impossible except for the rich and famous.
Nothing is stopping me, I just don't feel bad enough yet. Ironically my guns are preventing me from seeking proper help, because I don't want to lose the guns themselves, and because it is my favourite hobby. Good for you to have the good luck and intelligence to possess valuable items and not be willing to risk losing them! Everyone should have the good fortune to be in your position, you make me proud.

Continue to be intelligent, cautious, patient and vigilant.

I was thinking about shooting myself last autumn, but I did not like the hollow points I had at the time considering that I want to shoot myself behind my ear instead of through my mouth which would require a round with more penetration capabilities to punch through my skull to get to the brain stem

If it fails, and I live, it would leave horrible damage. My biggest fear is failing, so having methods that leave minimal damage if I'm "saved" or fail is preferred.

Hard to get a gun while you are confined to a bed in a care facility. But if it were available I'd definitely give it "shot". Excuse the dad joke 🤭
