Whats a good movie or anime that romanticizes suicide, preferably an anime movie, or short anime?

Welcome to the NHK has a lot of themes of suicide but i dont really recall if it explicitly romanticizes it

i can't really think of any but "i sold my life for ten thousand yen per year" is a really short manga with like 17 chapters iirc and it reinforced my idea of living a short somewhat happy life over a long normal miserable one

I loved the suicide at the end of Terminator 2. Even though it's a robot it's a beautiful suicide. He even gives a thumbs up to others to have a good life while he dies. I wish I could die like that... ask a friend to lower me into molten metal. (If I had the fucking courage).

I agree it was an amazing movie, it does romanticize it a bit. I would say it focuses a lot on how many people would be affected though and is anti-suicidal in nature, not that that makes it any worse of a movie.

I know it isn't an anime, but I feel like Goodnight Punpun does? But as I grow older, the more of an aversion I have for it and don't want to identify with it.

Not exactly suicide, but Slow Damage does have a hell lot of really dark, heavy themes like self-harm, masochism/sadism, abuse, absurdly unhealthy relationships, stockholm syndrome, and stuff like that. Hope you like video games, 'cause it's a visual novel instead of something you could watch.

The Sunset Limited. It romanticizes suicide from beginning to end. Or rather, Tommy Lee Jones romanticizes it. Samuel L Jackson's character vilifies it. It's basically a discussion between a pro lifer and ctb enthusiast from beginning to end.

Not really anime, but Boy's Abyss is a manga series that rather does romanticize suicide. Overextension of the series by the mangaka is considered by some to have diminished its plot but I still think it's a rather decent romanticization of it, even if the ending is ambiguous.

It's more like a righteous suicide documentary.
