I think the roughly 550 Euros for my PS5 were not a good investment. Thus far. GTA 6 might change that a little bit. I hope the investment for my Switch 2 will be better. I never played so much with any console in my life like with the Switch 1. One reason why I was more passive with my PS5.

I think my mom bought me Xbox Kinect and my DSi were such a waste of money.

I cannot think of much else. I am sort of stingy.

Currently, I expand my anime figure collection again. All from China. I think roughly 17 figures for 80 Euros. Which proves they are really cheap. I would be curious about feedback but I would never post a picture on here. Way too dangerous (meta-data etc.) I could imagine to sell them one day for way more money. But maybe I could get a fee because many of them would infringe safety standards.

I am glad I never got scammed. There once was a limited edition of the Switch with Animal Crossing on ebay. You could not pay with paypal and they claimed the offering is limited. I ruminated and ruminated. Almost ordered it. Later it turned out scammers hacked a legit ebay seller. If I ordered it 300 Euros would have been gone. To that time I would have tortured myself to a completely inhuman degree for that. I think I would have cried so so much. My gut feeling told me that's too good to be true. It was covid time and the Animal Crossing Switches went through the roof.

For clarification, we talking about purchases that were wasteful (read: exorbitant spending)? Or were a waste in hindsight 'cause it underperformed / didn't meet expectations / etc? Or like anything?

The latter one.
In that case, the last laptop I bought (forgot what brand it was) was probably the most disappointing purchase I've made that I can remember at this moment.

It was somewhere in the middle-upper range of stuff you could get for a good balance of productivity and gaming. Well... Within a month that little pile of junk was heating up and thermal throttling itself to death, causing multiple malfunctions across the board.

Customer service was of no use for the whole duration I tried to get help, so I just wiped and scrapped that shit.

I'm hesitant to buy another one for travel purposes. But the chances of a repeat offense is pretty unrealistic.

I would prefer to just stick with PCs I build.

A €1200 sofa that was as hard as a rock. Luckily I was able to send it back and get my money back.

So many. Too many. A lazy boy that I don't use anymore. An air conditioner for a room that I don't even go into anymore. But I turned over a new leaf this year though. I've started really thinking about my purchases.

I try to now buy only things that I really need.

College and cigarettes. The first was an absolute waste because I dropped out and cigarettes I just stopped liking them, but I can't get back all the money I spent on them.

Years ago before I recieved treatment for my mental stuff I had an extra bank account made from my grandparents for me when I was a born.
I bought some shit for me to heal my mental pain but you all will know what comes next: more and more expensier stuff was the result.
It ended in killing the complete bank account by buying a high end stereo system from the english brand called Naim. 18.500€ for peace in my soul. the peace didn't last long and depressions came back and hit me hard.
Three years later my grandparents had died. I was poor and had to sell the system for 6200€. In that time I had my real offical mental crash and had to be hospitalized. And so the story begins...

It was on of my biggest mistakes in my life. My mom hated me extremly for acting like that.

Decades and decades of paying the (UK) BBC television license. I hardly ever watch BBC programs. We basically pay it so we don't get harassed by inspectors.

1000s of dollars on pre university classes. I failed most of the exams and still have not entered university. If I want a chance At life I think I need a bachelors degree at least. Because my mind is dead. I can't do anything else that is not tried and tested by this point.

I think I have a list luckily all of these purchases were maybe $5.00 or less

Ranma ½ Vol. 1
-not very interested in it after I finished it

Galaxy Angel Vol. 1 DVD
-all of the series is for free online

Bambi and Her Pink Gun Vol. 1
-I ripped it to shreds and flushed it down the toilet because I was afraid that my literature substitute in middle school was going to tell my parents I bought an 18+ graphic novel to silent reading time and wouldn't let him look at it or know what I was reading, it wasn't terrible or anything just a bit of nudity and I regret that I flushed it down the toilet

I think it was around $750-$1000 USD in total. I went to St. Louis to see a Distant Worlds concert. Part of it was a meet and greet with Nobuo Uematsu.

If it were me from twenty years ago, the whole thing would have been magical and a dream come true.

The me that got to experience the event, was far too gone to appreciate it.
