believe "meat preservation"
Wrong. That wouldn´t be pure SN (95% or more). The right SN is food grade or lab grade.

The difference between food grade and lab grade is that food grade is suitable for human consumption. But for CTB it doesn´t matter as long as the purity is at least 95%.

I believe the highest grade is ACS / Reagent. Previously people have said to go with food grade, but there are reports of that being false

What @befree says is correct, food grade, technical, reagent, lab grade are perfectly fine according to Stan's guide. Please do not give unverified information.

Maybe a dumb question but I wonder if there's any difference in taste between food grade and lab grade SN at the same purity?

Good question actually because if there are any heavy metals in the lab grade stuff it could not only cause a different taste, even if only slight but could it also be the difference between someone vomiting or not?
