Hi, ( if there is already a thread about this same exact subject, please redirect me )

what have you tried ? and why do you think you failed?

In my case, I have read tons and tons of eastern philosophical books (Lao tzu, Buddha, osho) and western too ( diogenes the dog, Nietzsche) and some religious books (sufism in islam) and some philosophical poetry also.

I tried meditation, yoga, antidepressants, aromatherapy, therapeutic art. I went to therapy for about a year.

I tried positive thinking/focus to create my reality (it was 5 years ago, when I was stupid) (it's not that I think it's impossible to change my reality, it's just that I no longer wish for anything at all since everything comes back to the same thing… me)

I did find a lot of answer by reading all these books and trying all these things, but more than anything, they made me realize how absurd this society is, in fact it left me even more suicidal.

Same, more or less. Less yoga lol. But wasn't surprised to learn that reading politics can cause suicidality, so damned if you do, damned if you don't. And I think politics is a disgusting sign of the underhanded* necessities (and the consequences) for handling human depravity.

are you talking about illegal drug or medication?

if it's medication, this is really scary. I hear so many people saying that they life has been destroyed because of anxiety/depression medications and this makes me really angry. If this is true, then pharmacies are making money off of our suffering while being aware of the dangers

1. Being a prevention activist since a great beloved friend died by suicide since 6 years ago. It failed because I feel I was hypocrite because I'm still want to kill myself but at the same time not doing it for respecting the memory of my friend.
  1. Being more pious on a series of churches, specifically Adventist Church and Pentecostal-based church. But at a same point I lost my faith on the christian god.
  2. Trying to thinking about a probable career as author: imagine my published books, talking about them, make the readers glad with my stories, etc. That is the only reason I still in this world, because I believe on my talent, despite not being published yet. Still, that not failed yet, but some days that premise was challenged for my mental crisis.
  3. My new, eclectic faith on Godesses. I try a lot of meditation and mantras to worship the Hindu and Buddhist Godesses and Dakinis (Dakinis are enlightened women on Tibetan buddhism), with the hope to search relief and meaning as a Godesses daughter. Also, I want to be a witch, a sorceress. Again, that still not failed.

Despite this points, I'm about a 50% of chance of die by suicide someday.

I tried antidepressant, and even shamans with Ayahuasca rituals.

But for how long did you use the medication?

I used mine for about 3 weeks and it was a very low dose. My doctor said it'd take 2 months for me to feel the effects so I just stopped because I was lazy and couldn't wait 2 months

Hi sister, respect to you for trying so many different things and having some measured judgement.
I've tried antidepressants, which while have caused some awful and permanent side effects actually saved my life I believe (ironic given my current disposition).
I've been in and out of therapy for most of my life and that has had limited success, which to answer your question about why it failed; I've never been able to be fully honest with therapists, I don't want them to section me or some something for saying how I really feel and this has I think been a barrier to progress.
I also did a bunch of recreational drugs and alcohol and while these and other activities provide some relief to the symptom they do nothing for the cause (and in some cases do more harm than good).
I wish you peace on your path sister, good luck.

Its a long story, medications work for many, or work temporary. They have worked for me but then they turned on me. Also I have not been instructed and guided well... For a minority but still a very large number of people meds destroyed their brain and had the opposite effect.

Also keep in mind nobody really knows what the hell these pills EXACTLY do in the brain. They just gamble... And sometimes U can lose big ,not them...

most of the above, no pills because apparently I am not clinically depressed, I just have a morbid obsession with CTB. It is like there are two minds operating at the same time - one can be in a state of bliss and the other one insists that CBT is perfectly normal and reasonable. Maybe I am depressed but not in any textbook style.

I've had 19 therapists and at least 15 psychiatrists. I participated in 4 psychotherapy groups over 5 years, did Dialectical Behavior therapy for about 2 years, and spent thousands of dollars on transcranial magnetic stimulation. I've been on over a dozen medications and I was involuntarily hospitalized twice. I've called the suicide hotline numerous times (they hung up on me at least twice and one volunteer told me that I would go to hell if I killed myself).

I'm not religious but my family has sent me to faith healers and forced me to spend hours praying for a cure.

I asked a previous therapist about when I could give up and he said, "Never." I don't agree. I've spent years of my life and thousands of dollars "seeking help" and it has only gotten worse. I have no fight left in me and no real reason to live.

People say that you should "reach out" and "seek help" but that has only lead to rejection, judgement, and failure to get better.

I get angry when I think about all the money I wasted trying to get better. Nembutal is cheap in comparison.

Electro-Convulsive Therapy

A doctor recommended electroconvulsive therapy for me. I refuse to try it because I am afraid of developing permanent problems with memory and cognition. Did you experience any long term side effects from ECT?

She's been on medication for a very long time, she will sometimes complains about it and say it has made her less mentally alert, how she's having trouble stopping, how she feels numbs/confused/light headed or experience insomnia stuff like that. As someone with anxiety, I never really listen or take her seriously when she says stuff like that because I experience these too… so idk, but if so many people say the same thing about it, It makes me wonder (apparently it gets better with meds, then it gets worse)

I've done everything under the sun lol.
Exercising, changing my diet, saffron, changing the way I think and react to things, meditation, yoga, talking to someone, have been to therapy, stopped smoking, stopped smoking pot, stopped drinking, stopped self harming, writing more, drawing more, reading more, hanging out with friends and family, doing things I find enjoyable, vacation, literally anything except medication.
Been this way since probably birth, longer than I can remember. I know when I found out that nobody else around me felt the same as I do, I felt really awkward around everyone else. Finally their thinking I was weird made sense, and it only made me feel worse about myself knowing it isn't normal to want to be dead at 5 (which is the first year I really remember. The only thing earlier I remember is watching my grampa die when I was almost 2).
So my entire life I've been this way and have tried changing it, no such luck.

The human mind is such a fragile thing, medication, self-help, thearpy all of these things could help but the effects wear off eventually and now your back in square one, right where you started.
