What does overdosing feel like?

Overdose is my only option for suicide. I want to know what it feels like if it fails or not or if it's worth it.

It really depends on what you take but some guarantees are: nausea/vomiting, discomfort, and a prolonged death. A lot of suffering and not a very reliable method with high levels of suffering.

Overdosing has a poor rate of success, and a failed attempt could cause much more suffering in the long term. The effects you'll go through are also very dependent on what you're planning on taking.

In my experience, if you're referring to prescription drugs, absolutely nothing remarkable. I'm quite experienced as it was my preferred choice of suicide method, so I've tried a variety of concoctions.

As what has ready been said, depends on what you take. It's unreliable due to several factors but one of the holy grail of ctb methods you read here is the use of Pentobarbital, which would be an od. Problem is getting that. So a common combination is opiate + benzodiazepines. Since they are "downers" you'll most likely get a high then drift to sleep. If it's successful, you'll die from respiratory depression which you shouldn't feel a thing or choking on your vomit. I don't know how aware you would be during that. It's the unpredictability of how the drugs will affect you that makes it such a crapshoot.

Overdosing doesn't have good reputation here, which I think is because it's an extremely broad field with hundreds of substances could be involved.
It starts from taking a sh*tload of paracetamol or random antidepressants, but it also ends with i.e. death penalty being executed by "overdosing". Euthanasia is "overdosing", the SN method is "overdosing", and so on. Basically the most peaceful ways we know are "overdosing".

So it highly depends on the utilized substances.
I think if it's done well with suitable substances like barbiturates, strong opioids/opiates, ... then "overdosing" probably is the most reasonable way to go.
On the other hand "overdosing" could potentially end up in desaster. I wish there were more "bundled" resources here regarding the topic. There's a lot of info on this forum, but it's like a puzzle and takes quite some time to finally get a good overview and find out what's reasonable or not.

A lot of people died from taking opiates so I'm not sure what opiates people mean when they talk about them not being reliable. If they mean oxycontin, it shuts off the part of the brain that makes you breathe, you just stop breathing. At least that's my understanding of it and what I mildly experienced one time from it. If you have a tolerance to them that's different.

I can only share my experience of a mixed overdose of a load of medications and alcohol (it was impulsive & I called for help because I didn't want my partner to find my body). Can't remember exactly what I took but it included gabapentin, codeine, clonazepam and potentially some other stuff. And tequila!

I went from functional to not very quickly. I was very very dizzy and one point, I could not move, I felt like I was glued to the ground. I started passing out but had called the ambulance, I was trying to make my way to the door but it took forever because I couldn't control my body. I heard them on the phone talking about breaking down my door which ironically was the thing that really pushed me because I didn't want to deal with a broken door in addition to everything else haha.

I was on the phone to the paramedics and they had to keep trying to stop me passing out so I could get to the door, paramedics were trying to find a way in. Eventually I threw up, which gave my body the strength to slowly get down to the door. I remember massive lack of coordination, trying to force my body to move but struggling.

The shift happened very quickly from being able to move etc to not. If I hadn't of done it impulsively and called for help, I probably would have passed out but thrown up.

in my experience i overdose on olanzapine it was completely peaceful within 5 mins of taking it i was in a coma for 2 days but it depends on what you overdose on

That sounds just awful. I cannot take SSRI's and never tried anti psychotics. SSRI's make me feel terrible, and my depression is 1000 times worse on them. I'm sorry you had to go through all that!

It depends on what you're overdosing with.

The best method of OD is DDMAPh, amitriptyline, chloroquine, and opioids (sorry if I missed some)
these are generally the most peaceful methods of OD, not painful.

I singled them out because they're the most reliable methods, they have the highest QoD. I don't have any new information on them at the moment.

can i know what kind of anti psychotics did you overdose and it's amount?

I have overdosed on dihydrocodeine before. Took it in my parents' bathroom with the door locked and passed out. I have flashes of waking up to vomit and passing out again, with my first vivid memory waking up in hospital having had my stomach pumped.

One thing I can say is that the flashes and memories I have, alongside the discomfort in the hospital, were not worth it; I should've been more prepared with anti-vomiting agents or a different method.

I OD'd at the beginning of the year on alcohol & an anxiety/insomnia medication. At first I fell asleep, but then I woke up & it felt difficult to breathe, I was dizzy, lightheaded, nauseated & felt like I was dying. My fear response kicked in & I drove myself to the ER (dumb, I know). Spent a day in the hospital feeling so sedated, disoriented, my muscles were rigid, I felt like I couldn't control my body movements. The worst part was the doctors just kept saying "we'll see what happens". It took about 4 days for the meds to fully get out of my system and for me to feel relatively normal again. I didn't learn my session though & after getting out of the psych ward I did the same thing again with more & passed out & someone found me. It wasn't as scary the second time, but I have a heart condition now as a result.
