Discussion What do you believe happens when you die?

I believe that after Death there will be nothing , no pain ,no problems,no disease, no stress, no work, no suffering,just nothingness.

We go away every night when in a deep sleep. It's only when i wake up that I have to deal with all these horrible problems. So we do experience Death every night in a deep sleep.

Death is like a deep sleep with no dreams like a coma.

I didn't exist for the first 13.7 billion years of the universe and I didn't suffer any pain then. It will be the same after death as before birth.

I believe there is no afterlife, no hell. There is a hell it's life here on earth.

If anyone wants to talk more about this in PM I'm up for it. But I do respect others having different beliefs.

What do I believe happens? Quite simply that life goes on without me. A tiny tiny percentage of those remaining will remember me - and most of those will not be overly concerned, let alone upset, by it. And why should they? I might be the center of my own world but I am not the center of theirs.

As for my body - that would rot, decay and smell if left. And my 'soul'? - that's turned off at the moment I died, the same thing maybe. All that I was was nothing more than a balance of chemicals (so how fitting that an imbalance, SN or N, could bring me to an end!) and a notion of self-consciousness brought about by some kind of accidental neural 'short-circuit'.

Kinda weird innit? Some talk about themselves as 'accidents of birth'... I kinda figure that our own sense of self is accidental. That is, we are all (in some sense) an accident. Nothing fucking matters really, we only figure it does.

Nothing. I'm an atheist so I don't believe we have a soul or that we go to heaven/hell after we die. I also don't believe in reincarnation neither. I just don't think there's another life after this one. I'm 100% convinced that we're just a mortal part, the body, and of course the body will start decomposing until there are just bones and that's it. I won't exist anymore, and never will. So yeah, eternal nothingness.

I agree. I like the idea of reincarnation as well. As far as we know humans reincarnate genetically as your family line does continue if one chooses to reproduce however as far as being Re-born into a new conscious being if it does happen it's not as if one would have memory of the previous. It's interesting however I'll stick to this being the end, it's not as if I would know my conscious will be gone so If it is the end it's the end without "I" the ego being self aware of it. if that is how it works. Reincarnation seems terrifying. I researched and read somewhere that the universe collapses again and again and arises in multitudes and therefore it's reoccurring cycles over and over again. Quite interesting

I really like what you said here. I agree I'm a skeptic however I try not to allow my emotions to cloud logic. I remain hopeful we possibly arise as new conscious life throughout the cosmos every time it collapses recycles and continues.
the hardest part is losing the ego in death. We are all just a part of the contiuum, connected to the natural orders that are greater than us.

Also there are a lot of beautiful comments here. I always love this topic, it's comforting and calming listening to everyone's perspective with no judgement etc.

A state of nothingness you pro-life pos. I've noticed quite a few pro-lifers on this forum from reading for nearly a year to the point where I've wondered if the forum mods are pro-lifers themselves. The people here have realized that they are living a miserable shit existence and want to end their misery. There is no point to life, we are entropy from the big bang, we are by-products of that. We exist because we evolved over billions of years from primordial life forms. We exist for the sake of existence which is to consume and breed. For some reason, we do not know why, this is how life evolved. Pointless, meaningless, repetition. Some of the people here want to check out due to various reasons, to each their own. The point is, life has absolutely no defined meaning to it and there is no magic kingdom, no afterlife, no supreme being, no sky god or gods. Death is a state of nothingness.

When i was in my teenager years, i was convinced that there must be an afterlife, i watched a ton of nde stories..
over the time i've experienced such horrible things that i couldn't believe that something like 'order' and an afterlife can exist,
or at least not with love and peace, as some describe it.. i wish i could just believe in it again, even though i do at times, but
only when im happy, which is has become very rare tbh..
