I was asked this recently by an overly optimistic person. I asked her if she honestly thinks everyone experiences joy on a regular basis. She was speechless. I can't remember the last time I felt it.

For me I think the closest to joy when I'm able to dive into my special interests. At those times I'm able to immerse myself in such a way that I forget about the world. It's not always the same subject and sometimes I'm not able find a thing.

Unfortunately I can't think of an answer too. It's been some time since your post so I wonder... have you found an answer yet? I have a few theories as for things that would bring you joy, the main thing would be if society and your family left you alone to neet in peace

Philosophy. Music. Those rare occasions where I don't feel like every cell in my body is revolting against me.

Like reading stuff online, music, video games, getting your fantasises fulfilled, living like a king.. or a queen in your case. There's one catch though. These things would only give you joy if you could do these things without worrying about responsibilities or wage slaving

The things like games, movies, books, comics and stuff might bring you joy until some point in your life when you're getting tired of them. As for me, there's no feel of purpose in it anymore. Nothing changes after I watch a movie or beat the game etc. It works as a form of escapism for some time, but I can't understand how people stay dedicated to some kind of media for years.
I'd say that hobbies where you are CREATING something can actually be your long term (if not infinite) sources of joy. That's the "hard" way to make yourself feel joy.
There are also easy but unhealthy ways to get it such as drugs that just skip the process of working for it and just make your brain feel good things...
And of course there are sex/masturbation that make the same thing but in a healthy way.
I have no hobbies anymore, don't want to become an addict and aren't interested in relationships for getting sex, so the only thing that still brings me some kind of joy is jerking off :/

Not even trying to seem depressing or something, but I genuinely can't remember the last time I felt joy at something. I can't even remember the last time I did something simply because I wanted to, and not because I felt I needed to.

I think joy is the wrong word but things that I enjoy:

My dog
Painting/drawing Art pieces
Getting 100% on video games
The sanctuary in Spain
The Sanctuary in UK

I used to like golf and got very good but it reminds me of my previous partner and I've blocked it completely from my mind (was on the verge of going professional).

Most it is probably autism - hyper fixating and most of these activities don't involve people (no wonder I liked golf lol).

Edit: enjoy, cope, time going by - all these things kind of blur together apart from the animal stuff given that you've got a sentient creature in front of you so they experience time the same way you do in that moment.

Damn, i thought i had felt it more often, but if im honest w/ myself... Not very often.. But i have felt it, its just kinda diluted and tainted w anxiety these days. I hesitate to call it joy. It is happiness i would say.
Total unbridled joy... Its been a while. Maybe 10 years. Maybe more.
But what brings it to me is achievement and personal relationships. Really nothing else.

Honestly, nothing for me, anymore. I don't even remember what joy feels like, not that I've experienced much of it in my life, maybe a few times. It was always fleeting, though, anyway, so not really all that blown away by the concept, since it was always taken away. It may have been better to never have known what joy feels like. That way you don't know what you're missing.

Actually not much anymore.. music used to be everything to me but now I'm just too depressed to listen to it. I used to love nature and basking in its glory but even that doesn't interest me anymore.
