Just looking for some new politics/philosophy book recommendations! I'm currently reading Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard.

I haven't read a book in a while, but the last book I've read was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This book reminds me of my happy childhood. The only time in my life when i was truly happy.

I'm currently reading both The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Cultish by Amanda Montell. Although they both kinda cover philosophy, I wouldn't really call them philosophy books.

I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, i recently realized i actually enjoy sci-fi more than I thought so I wanted to start reading some, of course this book was one of the first I wanted to try and Im really enjoying it.

Unseen by Molly Burke. It's the memoir of a blind woman/content creator/activist who shares with us what her life was like and how she found her voice. She has a YouTube channel too.

I am currently reading two books. The frist one is The Hyena & the Hawk it the third in the series. It's a fantasy series.

The second one is Cosmos & Psyche by Richard Taras. He is a cultural historian & professor of philosophy and depth psychology. I definitely find it as an interesting read.

I'm reading picture of Dorian Gray and meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The first one is a fictional novel by Oscar Wilde and it explores themes like the relationship between moral and beauty, individualism and hedonism (I still have about 90 pages left). I have really enjoyed it.

What kind of philosophy are you interested in? In general I would advise sticking to the more practical stuff. Stoicism is already a very good start. Maybe supplement it with some eastern wisdom texts like the tao te ching or the dhammapada?

I'm interested in existentialism and ethical philosophy. Meditations is the first "proper" philosophical book I'm reading. Nietzsche's and Dostoevsky's philosophy are something I want to get into. I also find the overlap between psychology and philosophy interesting. I've thought about reading Carl Jung.

Nietzsche is difficult because he builds on and critiques a lot of prior philosophy. Maybe you want to look at some of the people he's been influenced by first or read a book about him rather than by him?

Essays and Aphroisms by Arthur Schopenhauer deals with the topics you mentioned and is very readable.

On the Suffering of the World is another approachable place to start with Schopenhauer. It's also a collection of essays and there's probably some repeats from Essays and Aphorisms but I thought it gave a good, concise picture of his philosophy.
