It doesn't look like the site has had any reply to this story as yet. My old paper never would have run a story without offering the accused the right of reply. Never.
Maybe it is yet to come but as far as I can see the story is out there.
I've seen this too many times when working for the media. Once the story is out the truth often becomes irrelevant. It who gets the coverage that counts.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I was trained in print journalism exactly as you're talking about. TV media has always played by its own rules, and it's not about the truth. I saw that over and over again growing up with a dad who was a death investigator and knowing what actually happened on a case vs what was broadcast.

This forum is getting all this negative press due to inappropriate and vicious comments made by a small group of our members in another thread.

I DO NOT believe that SS is responsible for Shawn's death or that she was encouraged to commit suicide. I doubt that there ultimately will be legal consequences or that this site will be shut down.

That being said, the behavior of some of our members in recent days has been absolutely callous. Fighting for our forum is one thing, but ridiculing and terrorizing Shawn's grieving parents? Posting memes calling them "shit parents" and blaming them for Shawn's decision? Mocking their physical appearance? Making fun of the lack of donations to their GoFundMe account and equating it to a lack of care for Shawn?

There were so many low blows that were absolutely uncalled for. Instead of backing off, these members are now doubling down on the insults and atrocious behavior. This forum as a whole isn't evil, but there sure are some evil members. I understand many of us are broken (myself included), but dammit, don't you have one ounce of human decency left?

I do send my condolences to them. But I wasn't involved in her death and others can agree. Most members die within a few weeks or months after making an account. So who are they really holding accountable? Also most of these methods are common knowledge and you can learn them on Wikipedia for goodness sake. There is really nothing they can say or do to shut this website down.

I'm very tempted to contact that particular news organization and tell them how this site has done more to keep me alive than any medication or therapy ever could.

Yes I agree, we are all adults discussing interesting topics what the law should be concerned with is the Doctors who just inundate you with pills for everything these days, we are allocated 10 minutes to see our GP, doctor because of the shortage and the amount of people who wants to see them, they are giving Children and Adults very dangerous pills with serious side effects including making them suicidal.

It is a well documented fact but no action because the big pharmacies are making a fortune and the share holders are being paid massive dividends, it reminds me of the tobacco companies in court 35 years ago about 12 CEO's all stood up in court and swore in front of the judge and camera crew, cigarette don't cause cancer and are not addictive, lol.

It was unfortunate but it was a SUICIDE not a HOMICIDE!!! No one wants anyone here to off themselves, Shawn obviously came to this site, this site didn't come to her. This is dumb as fuck to even blame this site, she killed herself which is truly unfortunate but she had to have these thoughts and feelings before she came upon this site. Only a moron would believe otherwise.

Before all this attention by the way, I had no idea who Shawn was. Honestly, I still don't know to much. I do know someone came here and is using my post without my permission.

Is it legal to do so? Yes. Is it shoddy journalism not to contact me? Yes. Which is why they are inconsequential to me.

I deal with professionals. They are not.

People who come here are suffering, and in turn we treat them with respect, compassion, and kindness. This family is also suffering.
