I just ordered SN and I live in the U.S. How likely am I to get it seized by customs or get a wellness check?

It's impossible to put a percentage on the likelihood of receiving a welfare check, but I'd guess it's fairly low. Although I've seen infrequent reports of welfare checks in the US, the vast majority seem to come from the UK.

I would say there is some possibility. As a result of Trump, anything coming into the country is much more aggressively checked.

If I had to guess, and it's a total guess, 40 percent chance of it either getting delayed (post office saying they want to talk to you) or a welfare check after delivery by police.

There's usually not that much that can happen to you as long as you don't talk to police and realize anything you tell them will be used against you and, by talking with them, you may accidentally admit to an aspect of the crime that they otherwise couldn't prove. (For example, if police were trying to prove someone ordered something illegal, a big part of proving it is proving that the order was intentionally done, so if someone were to say "I ordered it but not for something illegal," and just ordering it is illegal, then by talking with police they accidentally just made it much easier for police to prove what they need. Unless you know the law backwards and forwards, and no one does, just don't talk with them if the package gets seized and don't go down to a station or post office. Remember, when police have the evidence they need, they just arrest you, they only want to talk to make their case easier.

In a welfare check situation, don't open the door. If someone else lets them in (like you live with others), once they observe you and see you, they can require you be evaluated by a medical professional.

What if you go to the post office after it gets delayed and they want to talk to you?

It will probably be fine, maybe do a little research on meat curing so you have a believable cover story just in case.

If you go down there, you're admitting it's yours in a way.

Imagine you ordered something blatantly illegal. The post office goes, "hey you're illegal item is delayed, we just need you to sign paperwork for your order."

You respond: "Great, I'll go down there to claim my order of the illegal item."

You now just admitted to ordering it, making it much easier for them to prosecute you. I don't know the laws in your areas, but you may not either. Silence can be a friend in such a situation.

So ordering SN isn't illegal in the US. If it is stopped and you are questioned you would just need to be able to give them a legitimate reason for ordering it. A welfare check is just to make sure that you aren't in danger. As long as you get that across to the police you're good.

What would be a legitimate reason for ordering it that you could give them?

I think at this stage anyone ordering SN should expect a welfare check, and if you don't get one then great.

What happened? I thought wellness checks weren't a concern in the US.

They aren't. It's a UK thing specifically. A lot of misinformation gets spread on here and people get nervous/paranoid because of it.

It's only really a thing in the UK if SN is seized or the person is reported as a potential danger to themselves. Not sure exactly about the US but I'm sure it's a similar situation.

not necessarily, a wellness check can be manually called in for almost any reason, eg "I'm worried about my neighbour, she speaks daily to me and hasn't spoken for 2 days"... whether the neighbour is ok or not doesn't have to be known in advance.
