Poor guy. It seems like he picked one of the lower spots on beachy head to jump from. Beachy head apparently goes up to 160 M at its highest point.

If I dared to ctb by jumping I would be very lucky. There is only a 30-40 minutes walk to a very high place from one of the places where I live. But I'm too afraid of jumping. But I wish I had the courage to do it.

Why do people prefer to jump? Is it beacause they feel they got no other good option to ctb? Or do they think it's a good way to die?

According to my research you need atleast 4 secounds of free fall if you want instant death when jumping and landing on concrete/asphalt, if you're landing on anything softer you need a longer fall. I don't think you'll get 4 secounds of free fall from Beachy Head though.

I'm considering it mostly because I feel I don't have any better options for dying. If I had great confidence that I was going to feel no pain and die, there is a fair chance I would do it.

It's supposed to take 5-6 seconds fall depending on the spot you jump.

I understand you, my friend. And I would like to add that Beachy Head is beutiful place. Dying in a beutiful place has a value in itself.

Personally I'm thinking about suicide by partial suspension hanging, especially by the "night-night-method". The ultimate method would be a overdose by fentanyl patches.

Hi guys,

Sorry to bump an old thread but as I live close to this - within a few miles- I can feel it beckoning to me at the moment, thinking of next weekend as no one is around

Will probably go early, take my camera so I don't look suspicious and just do it

After months of internal struggle on the matter I am strangely at peace with it all at the moment

A MAN who fell from the cliffs at Beachy Head is in a critical condition.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "At 3.32pm on Thursday, December 27, police were alerted by the coastguard to a report of a man injured at the foot of the cliffs at Beachy Head in Eastbourne.

"The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious chest and spinal injuries, where he remains in a critical condition."

Police, ambulance, air ambulance and coastguard services attended the scene.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "We sent an ambulance and two cars to a patient who had fallen 40 metres down a cliff near St Bedes School, Eastbourne.

"The patient was conscious but suffered a head injury and was on a ledge so was lifted clear by the Coastguard helicopter.

"They then teamed up with the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service at Shoreham airport which took the patient to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton."
The poor guy.
Lets hope his head injury caused him to go unconscious and not feel what herendous pain this fall but most proberly attempt would have caused.
This would be the type of thing that would happen to me and i would be so pissed off.

I actually like the look of Beachy Head, quite picturesque! making sure I jumped from the famous spot that is guaranteed death upon impact, this would be 2nd choice of my "Jump to death" locations! Golden Gate Bridge being the 1st. I'm from England so would make that Journey to San Francisco, but in all honesty, I'm pretty sure Beachy Head would be just as effective in the successfulness of ending one's life.
Taking that one last deep breath of fresh sea air and just falling, seems like a freedom fall to me

Agree, this is my worst fear: to be alive in such an awful condition.

Agree. I fucking hate how doctors think no matter how badly injured a person is they are doing the right thing as long as they "save" the person from death. Seriously a doctor could "save" a person who has become completely paralyzed and lost all their senses and still these pro life doctors would think they have saved another life.

10 stories I believe
What that is insane how anybody would survive that I remember a hospital I have been to many times I would stand on the 7th floor and look down and would be sure a jump like that would kill me, I am sure it would since I would hit the concrete pavement where as the guy OP talks about hit sand I assume so it would take a lot of the impact.

He probably landed on his feet. Theres a university with these neat bridges that people would jump off so they had to put up fences. One guy fell like 150 feet and survived because his legs broke the fall. Usually the pelvis gets fucked up during a fall

Id rather do beachy head when the tides out. Some people survive the fall into water from Golden Gate Bridge and drown

F**k me that's high. Looks beautiful though and I've never been to Ireland. Thank god jumping is not my preferred method. Lol at first I thought you'd spelt it wrong and meant cliffs of Dover. Haha if you jumped from them you'd probably land on a Lorry waiting for the ferry to France!

It would be my ideal method. Have a beer next to the beautiful scenery. Then jump. If I'm still around in the summer, that will be my method.

I live 30 mins from beachy head. Planning everything and getting things sorted atm. If I have to I'll do it alone, but would rather share it with someone.. does anyone else feel the same?

Can you confirm there is an easy way to get to a proper straight drop with no chance of accidentally messing up terribly like this poor fella?
Keeping mental notes..

You can't see it but if you jumped where this photo was taken it would be a straight drop of about 500ft. I haven't heard of anyone jumping from this point and surviving
