  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

Meaninglessness

Existence is absolutely meaningless

It feels like that I have outlived my own health. Time destroys everything. I hate aging and the decay of the body. The rest of my life will only be meaningless suffering due to chronic health problems. In civilization we live protected in houses without enemies and the healthcare cures diseases. It is no wonder that some people live 100 years. But we will lose everything in life with the passage of time - our appearance, our health and our friends. The only benefits of aging are life experience and knowledge. I have to choose between continue living in meaninglessness and pain or I can shorten my life. I can´t continue to live like this until I reach old age - there will be too many years of suffering. If I had been a dog or a cat, I would have been euthanazied. Our pets are euthanazied for considerably less health problems. I am only alive because I am a human. I think that in 2022, human life is valued too much. I am ready to travel into the unknown - death, which will be a travel of a lifetime. I can´t afford physician-assisted suicide, so I have to find another way.

I have been planning for my own death and to reduce the risk of failure, I have written documents with instructions on exactly what to do. But the fear of death and the fear of the death process are in the way. Moreover, there is almost always some doubt as to whether one should live one more day or not. A successful suicide requires either careful planning or good luck. Most suicide attempts fail because it is difficult to kill oneself and some people don´t know how to do it. But it comes to a point with each method where no one survives. I get jealous of people who succeed with suicide, but when someone tries to end his life, he can´t know if he will succeed, he takes a chance. Maybe suicide is like skydiving - you have to be very brave to dare to do it.

Life is a miracle! An evolution from single-celled life in water to humans is very complicated. I believe that there is something very intelligent behind the origin of life. The newborn baby explores the surroundings with joy. But life can also be unfair. Genetic predisposition creates the human being which the child can´t do anything about. The society´s rules are tough: education, economics, work until retirement age and die from old age. But not everyone can handle these tough demands and will therefore end up outside the community. It is no wonder that homelessness and loneliness are increasing. However, these problems would never arise if people lived in nature, where we belong.

If you think about it, life is not only a miracle, but also a prison. From the day you were born, you are forced to live with your body and follow made up laws and regulations. You didn´t create yourself but you are stuck with yourself. You have not chosen to exist but you are expected to suffer as long as possible before you die. You are a prisoner in the prison of life. The prolonging of human life is not for everyone - health problems can occur at any age. The longer you live, the more broken the body becomes - no one can escape the ailments in old age - and your prison sentence will become worse. Should I be forced to live in a prison when I have committed no crime? When life is a prison, death is freedom. No one will be hurt by my death, on the contrary, my death will be something postive. All humans will be dead and forgotten in a distant future and the Earth and the Universe will also die, which means that my suffering is completely meaningless and unnecessary.

Very eloquently written. 100% agree with your description of the prison sentence that is the life which we're trapped in & forced to endure. We should all have a big red button we can press to end our life quickly & painlessly. Will never understand why we're made to suffer so much only to become star fodder until the end of the universe.

I'm sorry you're suffering and that fears are getting in the way of a peaceful death ❤️

We are indeed trapped in a flesh prison. Ageing is so cruel. Youth is wasted on the young! If only we could have assisted suicide at a time of our choosing.

Life is certainly anything but a miracle. The existence of life is simply a cruel mistake. I find it tragic how life evolved in a way that so much unnecessary suffering continues to exist. The fact that we have the ability to feel pain is something horrific. Life exists as an useless concept and serves no purpose. You are right that we are prisoners. We are punished because of the decisions of others to selfishly procreate, we are slaves to endless needs and desires, trapped in the prison that is the human body which can torture us to such an extreme extent with no relief.

Only those who die are the fortunate ones. Returning to non existence is the best possible outcome, at least for me. But despite the true useless nature of life, many people certainly do place so much value on life. This is due to the instinct to survive and the fact that humans fear insignificance. The idea that life has any value is a delusion. People act like suicide is the worst thing because of these delusional beliefs, but don't they realise that only those who exist can suffer.

I also have this feeling of prison, of confinement in life, in my body, I cannot escape through the sky. I'm here because my parents created me, that's the only reason for my existence. Thus, two humans can create a new life, without limit, so spontaneously and "easily". It's dizzying to think that I could have never existed, or that another child would have been engendered: it would not have been me with my brain, my body. Since my birth, I have been condemned, locked up, blocked. Sometimes I think that parents are playing God a little by creating lives inconsequently, by accident. They do not even ask themselves the question of what that implies. I am deeply disturbed by this reality.
