I have always had tendencies to self harm but now as I am part of this forum I want to ask anyone who has any experience with the subject - can you tell me of some way to harm myself without receiving scars or any other marks that may alert the people around me about my habit. Thanks in advance

I always just drink, smoke, use drugs, and indulge in anything hedonistic. It's a form of self harm that generally doesn't leave physical scars. But it can be emotionally scarring.

Thank you for answering. Unfortunatel I can't do any of those things as my SO and family will notice and not approve of such behavior from me.

pulling hair, head banging where people won't see the bumps, chewing the inside of your lip excessively, purging. i do not advise and of these and some of them can seriously harm your health, but i'm not going to give you the don't do it lecture either. just know you can talk to me if you're having second thoughts. please try to stay safe if you can

Use bad words to describe yourself to others, imagine what you want to do to relief instead of doing it. Gain weight, use alcohol or other drugs available (alone preferably). Reject to meet other people. Be aggressive to others (I feel that if you do something to the person you love is like doing it to yourself). Waste all your money. Don't study or do mistakes at work. Be late. Don't get a shower everyday. Use old clothes. Don't clean your teeth. Get addicted to diazepam, may be you should go to the psychiatrist to obtain them. Go on motorcycle instead of a car. Ignore calls from people who care about you. Look always at the empty side of the bottle. Go to sleep late. Loose hope. Feel incapable of coping with things. Play computer games & read the bad news. Be afraid of anything outside of your room. Sleep as much as you can. Close your heart to others. Don't be communicative : they should guess what I want or need. Leave your confidence buried. Look down. Imagine situations that happened to you and was stressful or you would love to happen without confront them. Repeat the same mistakes, and feel that others are better, never think about solving the mistakes.

I wish I had the guts to be like this, I'm too much of a pussy but this is honestly what I wish my life was like

Instead of cutting, sometimes I write really nasty words on myself to just kind of break myself down. I'm trying to stop self harming currently though because it really is an addiction and not good for me to be doing but I understand feeling like it's the only way you can cope. I hope you are doing okay love and feel free to start a PM with me whenever <3

What I do is to tie a long string or a shoelace which I use and tie around my arms or legs and squeeze as hard as I can until it's numb. I would sometimes use a rope to tie around my neck and squeeze as hard also. Another is using a rope again but at one end of the rope I tie it into a small ball and then whip or flog my back kinda like a medieval priest but without the blood. Two others I used to do to replace cutting were using a rubber band and flicking it hard on my arms/legs and using a small needle to prick at my body.

It's better to not have the guts. Be yourself. Be kind to yourself if it's possible. Thanks for your words. You are brave, because you are aware of problems, not hiding them to yourself.

Once I choked myself with a shoelace in a public restroom. Sometimes I choke myself with a phone charger

thick elastic rubber bands on the wrists and twang them (is that the word) like hell and it will make them sore but not leave marks and u can explain a rubber band on your wrist easily

I use rubber bands a lot, but the problem is that they make a lot of noise so I can't do it at school sadly which is where I feel the most need to cut

For me, I go for places that are hard to see. I cut at the top of the butt crack. Hides deep cuts very well. Also have a small paddle with long spikes that I self flagellate with. The marks are very small but deep and painful. One could use a small board with nails driven through so the points are exposed on one side. Use of nails and needles in creative ways. Of course, whenever I go hiking alone I somehow always come back with deep cuts to my shins, calves and thighs from being "clumsy". It is getting to the point where I do not feel anything anymore which frightens me. I can hide the marks and cuts very well in areas covered by underwear. This is exactly how my life looks now.

Something I really like to do is get a candle with a high burning point, and drip it onto your skin, like arms wrist legs or thighs. It hurts but doesn't scar
