What do you think that was their way of making sure other people deleted it also?False positive: When a negative result is shown as correct. You take a blood test for X. Test shows you have X in your system. You never took Z.
There's also this nifty post I remembered. Took too long to find.

Part of the con was obviously to blend in with us, the real members. Share a story about their MH issues, life in general etc etc. It worked very well. I would not have suspected this. What do you think that was their way of making sure other people deleted it also?
If someone offer to to sell you something you should automatically oust them. You don't know if someone more vulnerable is about to part with their cash. Keeping it secret does nobody any good and if you have screenshots of your conversation where they are touting for business then who can argue with it?it sux that we cant oust them on here on the off-chance they're genuine but maybe i can convey my suspicions of certain users with vague anecdotes. "New age Monster palindrome" < thts pretty vague !

- DO NOT post usernames of any user from this site who may be scamming. PM a mod with all the information you have.
That's true, on second thoughts, without using the name the rest of the scam can be mentioned. Such as 'Beware - being approached to buy N, looks like a scam' just to get it out there at least.Agreed but this is said in the new scam megathread
That's why I've tried buying from members, I have no idea what you just saidmarkets that allow you to encrypt your address and pay vendors with cryptocurrencies, with some kind of escrow system
I feel yr pain! That's why I've tried buying from members, I have no idea what you just said
Agreed, I'm not at all savvy when it comes to that stuff!! I see how its tempting to avoid all that part of it and get it straight forward from someone, well, what you hoped would beThat's why I've tried buying from members, I have no idea what you just said

I raised concerns to a mod a good few weeks ago about rachel74There's been many scammers on here, even since before I arrived. Some users have been too embarrassed to come forward for fear of looking foolish.
I was gonna say that too with it all in pm some vulnerable people will be suckered in and they cant say much about it in the forums so others cant help them maybeThe thing that disappoints me is that in a day or two it will be forgotten and some poor new user gets hit upon and scammed. It's all in pm now so nobody can intervene publicly.

Completely OT and besides the point, but the saying you quoted is often attributed to Napoleon, and it actually goes, " Once is chance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action." :-)Thank you. I agree that the suspicion is warranted. The line "I sell phenobarbital myself" stands out as it doesn't fit any context. Regarding the "mistakes" the adage "Once is coincidence. Twice is a pattern. Three times is enemy action." applies. I presume that the incorrect email was not just given to one member as well.
It would be interesting to see what the new users posted to attract the attention. I'm not suggesting to violate any confidentiality (kudos to you fine folks for upholding that) or to dox any users. If a correlation between the posts and the scam pitch exists, then knowledge of it can help members avoid the scams. There is likely some criteria used in the scammer's selection process. If members can avoid sending up those signal flares, then they can decrease the chances of being targeted.
Props to everyone involved, named and unnamed.
Thank you @Mud.
Well, maybe theres hope for me after all haha! I do agree on only relying on yourself tho, generally never turns out right when others get involved!Neither was I, but it did not take long to learn. Now I am a member of a marketplace that is kosher, have bought a couple of items using cryptocurrency, which is not difficult, and can navigate my way around a lot of the dross. Honestly, if I can do that at my time of life, anyone can. You just need to be determined and not give up when it seems like you are banging your head against a brick wall. Plus I prefer to depend on myself to get things done because relying on others often leads to disappointment. Yeah, old AND cynical
I'm too depressed to take it in, it gives me a headache yet I know it's what I'll have to do all so I can get something to kill myself with once I've done something I didn't do years ago that seems simple in comparison. Confused? That's how I feelThe Darknet is based off of Tor/onion router encryption technology. Because of this you can create Darknet email addresses and use those for transactions. Cryptos, like BTC, allow you to purchase things without too much of a trail. You're sending from one "number" to another "number" which can be validated and can, potentially, have no trace back to you. Escrow services allow people to make transactions with less risk of theft. The idea is that the escrow service holds the payment until the product and/or service is rendered (or whatever the agreement).

this is like reading a foreign language, but then I am a huge technophobe, and also my ability to think about new things of which I have no knowledge is hugely lacking since depression etc...urgh...in good days of the past...I could prob, have figured it all out.
