I bought a gaming computer one year ago, it's not very expensive and it can run most modern and old titles. I used to have a PS4 Pro and Xbox 360 Jail-Broken with about hundreds of games, i would say the console experience would be better for those who are not very used to computers and have little to no knowledge. The computer provides you with more FPS and better image quality.

It's my favorite form of escapism and cope away from reality, i get invested whenever i am playing a video game with a storyline and it distracts me away all from the bad things in life. I have 200 hours on Kingdom Come Deliverance it's very hard to progress and i had all the time in the world to complete it, i enjoy medieval games a lot because for me it's the perfect kind of world even better from games that are set in modern eras, I'm a huge enthusiast in history too.

What is your favorite video game and what genre do you like?

I also game on PC (since i was 6 or so I'm 43 now) and my favorite game right now is also in the medieval setting but it has zero story and it's free too and very very brutal. I play the Half Sword Demo. I bought the full version but somehow it feels worse than the demo. It reminds me a lot of a really old game i played when i was younger, Die By The Sword because in both you control your avatars hands with the mouse directly, no pre-made animations you have full control.

Oh and i play Division 2 a lot too but that's a near future game but i enjoy just walking around the open world and joining the resistance in their skirmishes against the bad guys.

Video games is great because your brain is active and not passive. I should play like you instead of watching TV or series (I guess overthinking is lower when you play games). My favourite game is Tetris (I bought a Gameboy 2 years ago just for this game). But I also liked games like Crash Bandicoot when it came out.

Ah yes i have seen the gameplay it's getting quite popular the character movement is pretty funny though which i guess makes it fun to play too.

I played No Man's Sky lately, and Cyberpunk, and revisited the whole Sims 3 suite. Unfortunately I have an unhealthy relationship with some games. It's a cycle:
1. Pure entertainment, simply enjoying the game
2. Mild boredom that pushes me to seek additional content, communities or competition
3. Feeling that I should be the best or a need to introduce something uniquely mine to the game
4. Getting into modding or cheating
5. Heavy burnout because high ambitions meet low energy

They are in a way similar to movies except you control what's gonna happen, you should give it a try something nice, not too difficult.

Yeah, i've tried modding clothes and stuff to video games a lot i just get obsessed with doing it and end up failing. I have played cyberpunk but i barely understood what was going on, too many side missions.
I tried to make my own game in Unreal Engine 5 but i guess it didn't work really about as expected.

Apparently the next PlayStation is slated for 2027. I'll also be getting back into gaming. I remember time flying back when I used to play multiplayer.

Same. I also tried gamedev with UE5, got annoyed, switched to Unity and found it surprisingly pleasant. It's equally capable (except for the graphics but who cares about Nanite and Lumen), and more intuitive.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R games are definitely a favorite of mine, mainly because they capture that haunting despair of the Tarkovsky film beautifully. I also like Disco Elysium quite a bit. It feels like you're really dramatically immersed in existential dread, failure, and the real weight of human choices.

Maybe more linear games would help? I have that problem too with sandbox and open-world ones.

Yeah, they would. Purely offline and story-driven games don't trigger this

I've been a heavy gamer from a young age, before my mental health issues. They've been a great help in helping me escape from the negative thoughts, though nowadays I don't feel much joy anymore.

One thing I liked about video games was the sense of control you have over your own destiny. Unlike in real life, you can always try harder or put in more effort to always achieve your goals. Used to be a big fan of Elden Ring and Souls games for that reason haha.

Nowadays I lean into games with a nice narrative, I've liked RDR2 and E33 for that reason.

It's the latest entry from a developer who's known for making games with challenging combat. Standard dark fantasy setting, and the lore is quite vast but not presented to the player directly, instead left as many hints in the environment or item descriptions.

Many I know enjoy the challenge and accomplishment from overcoming it. I'd say it's worth playing for those who like mechanically demanding games, but in terms of story and narrative it isn't as good as other popular titles.

I would have already died if it wasn't for video games. I only play things nobody else in the world plays tho :(

I love racing games and old mobile games before the ad spam took over

Genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. Sooo ahead of its time. If you have played the second but not the first it can feel quite clunky but give it a chance. Don't wanna spoil anything from either game but the strange man missions are so spooky and the mission to get to Mexico is sick

I've never played Elden Ring myself and I've still watched around 100 videos about it on YouTube.

Check out this cool video.

Me too. It's how I've made my friends, and the sole reason I get any social interaction. Me and some discord buddies play Divinity Original Sin 2 and Barotrauma sometimes. It's fun.

I also really like online co-op games, like Helldivers 2, it's just a shame the developers shit the bed because it used to be so good.

I've sadly been having a hard time with my attention span though and I think I've played so many games that I've become jaded over the years, but online, and especially those drop-in type games have helped. Trying to be invested into a game that's dozens to hundreds of hours long can be challenging.
