I've been a huge gamer since the Atari 2600 and have enjoyed most of the games already mentioned. I tend to lean mostly towards RPGs or Horror games.

But I'd have to say Hotline Miami 1 & 2 are still probably my favorite games right now. I'm an indie game developer and I really respect the guys behind the two projects. I'm eagerly awaiting their next game which is still in development.

Do you, by chance, play the games I mentioned in my post?

Most of them I have yes. One or two of the JRPGs you mentioned I haven't though. I play JRPGs just not as much as I used to, they've changed alot over the years.

-Gacha games
-JRPGs, like Ib, Witch's House, Mad Father
-Visual novel type games, both anime and non-anime

ahhh i used to be addicted to gacha games and rhythm games but i quit because a lot of them are pay-to-win...

i love JRPGs too, they're my favourite genre! i could only play VNs and RPG maker games when i was younger because i had a shitty laptop so they grew on me a lot.

have you played Hello Charlotte, Pocket Mirror, Your Turn to Die, Witch's Heart, End Roll and the like? they're all free and require minimum specs, but they have really great stories, graphics and soundtrack regardless

END ROLL FJFHFHFH YESSSS I LOVE THAT
For the others I have them in my laptop but I haven't played them yet since I'm trying to catch up with this time limited quest in a certain gacha game on my phone
Yes I do think that their soundtrack is really nice there's even some covers by Sebastian Kingsley on Youtube

Good games, I finished Galaga PS4 edition recently even.
Yeah, I think Galaga is my favorite. I don't really know why. It gets so intense sometimes it can almost give you a panic attack if you get cornered. As far as modern games go I'm hung up on Mortal Kombat 11 at the moment & I'm not even into fighting games. Great for getting anger out I guess.

I agree, but they ended the second one in a way that it's not possible. They never wanted to make the second one even but the demand was so high. They said they included the level editor for the second game so the community could keep it alive.

I've been a fan since the start, I own every installment. I even enjoyed Kane & Lynch 1 & 2 despite all the hate and bad reviews.

The only other Hitman games I've played and beaten are Season 1 and Blood Money. I've heard Kane and Lynch 2 is a cult classic and I'd like to play it one day.

There is one game that profoundly affected me in my youth. So much so that even though I have a copy on steam I can't bring myself to install it or even play it again. Not sure why I bought it really beyond just wanting to have it again, like it may one day vanish and be gone...

The game is called Planescape: Torment. My home life then was its own variety of hell. So I escaped into games frequently. This game though was very special with its amazing thought-provoking dialogue. Intriguing factions and deep characters. I became quite attached to Fall from Grace. It is a game that explores themes of losing yourself and remaking yourself while enduring great suffering. I can't comment further without spoiling it and that would be a crime against rich storytelling and dialogue that as yet I have not seen matched anywhere. (If you do play the game take a high Int stat to really appreciate the conversation options.) One faction in the game kind of really helped me cope and deal with my home life. To the point, I adopted its philosophy and discovered its softer real-world equivalent. Probably my first taste of philosophy. Which helped me gain some strength and has served me well since. I will always hold that game in such high esteem and have a deep love for that game because of it.

I have been told the Persona games play with equally deep psychology. Are they stand alone or do they rely on prior game knowledge? Disco Elysium is also pretty good, arguing with aspects of yourself and even your horrific tie is pretty unique seeming in a game setting.

My gaming history (shows my age)
Ping on the Atari console (or was it Pong, I can never remember). It doesn't get more basic than this.
River Raid on the Atari
Anything on the ZX Spectrum, including Elite
Wolfenstein 3D, Alone in the Dark
Doom and Doom 2 with a little bit of Heretic thrown in
Half Life and all it's mods including They Hunger. Never got into Half Life 2
Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 1&2
Neverwinter Nights 1&2 and mods thereoff
Fable
Jedi Knight 1&2
Knights of the Old Republic
Diablo 1&2
Guild Wars
Perfect World
World of Warcraft
Lord of the Rings Online
D&D Online
Neverwinter Online
Guild Wars 2

Distraction. Gaming has a calming effect on me that other stuff doesn't. It ticks those old dopamine boxes so that I'm not drinking. It's an addiction for me.

I'm kind of all over the place with the games I play. I love JRPGs, strategy and adventure games. Used to play a lot of shooters. There was a period in my life where I ONLY played CS.

I'll always love the Civilization series. Been playing FFXIV to get me out of my head and interact with other people. Was playing Destiny 2 for awhile but got burnt out.

The new Ori game looks great. I loved the original when I still had console.

If anyone ever gets the chance give Hellblade a playthrough. Don't let the title put you off. It's brief and not particularly challenging. It's not a fun game... but it'd be a disservice to the work and sensitivity put into it.

I don't have the attention span for RPGs and JRPGs anymore. I only play online shooters. And occasionally fighting games.

These two games are the only games I religiously play.

This game was fantastic when it came out. Sadly it has become a cesspool it toxocity and frustration. All of my friends have stopped playing because of all the nerfs to characters and how largely focused the devs focus on the quality of life for DPS mains, completely destroying the fun tanks and healers have. I've put so many hours into this game, and I've bought it twice now for two different system. I'm going to rebuy it soon now that I have my Xbox back.

Probably the best free to play game I've ever downloaded. It's a battle royale, which have become quite popular these days. I used to play it for hours religiously back when I was apart of a gaming clan. But I had a falling out with them, so I don't enjoy it as much with randoms.

I used to love the Overwatch world but I only played it casually. I used to be really into R6:Siege during year 1. It felt like "enhanced" CS to me. I also loved the Division's "Survival" mode. It was their battle royale.

Vision issues keep me from playing shooters as much as I used to.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were my cousin taking me to the arcades to play Street Fighter 2/3 (I used to be a big Third Strike player) but Mortal Kombat and Tekken were my faves.

There's actually a game coming out for pc that's like Animal crossing. It's called Hokko life

I've never actually properly played any of the Animal Crossing games. My ex used to play them religiously on her 3DS. They're like Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley, yeah?

I only play OW casually now but I used to be very competitive. I have siege but it just feels so awful to play and I hate that people can TK and troll. Never played Division.

I loved 3rd strike even though I was super late to the party and got to it around 2014. Remy and Elena were my mains. I did play Tekken back on PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Awesome game. MK was okay. I liked the earlier ones more than the modern ones.

My mains were Oro and Yun. In Tekken I was all about Yoshimitsu.

Except for maybe Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire Bloodlines 2, this year feels kind of light in games I'm looking forward to.
