maybe a petty victory, but a victory is a victory. my mom, the narcissist, can not cook. she had brought over some zucchini to make zucchini boats, but basically do everything possible to keep any flavor out. I kind of shoved my way into the spices and every step along the way was argued. "well I would do it this way"

the last argument was putting foil over the dish or not. one had foil and the other did not (removed at the last second). the one without foil cooked softer and more thorough.

so my stomach is thankful and I know I didn't get through to her, it'll continue to be a competition, but food was at least edible.

I would kill for my own kitchen again.

Little victories

There was a short lived TV series called "On The Rocks" about people in prison. In the first episode the newly convicted were being processed into prison. A first timer asked a returning con why he scrunched down when they were measuring his height. The guy responded that the way he looked at it he cheated the system out of a couple of inches. He said that it was little victories that kept you from going nuts in prison.

This was written for laughs, but I am not sure if the writers fully appreciate how important little victories can really be.

Good for you and keep up your struggle. If you can see an adversary in terms of their limitations, you can retain a perspective of kindness that can prevent bitterness and rancor from corroding your soul.

Good job bro; never forget your small victories, they're all part of the bigger war. Hope this is a nice boost for your mood, and I hope you enjoyed the cooking too.
