Using helium gas for an exit bag

Hello there!
is helium gas suitable for an exit bag? i understand that the gas needs to be pure what if it isn't pure? moreover, how do i know if it's pure? if it IS pure, can i use it in place of other inert gases?

For an exit bag the two inert gasses Helium or Nitrogen are recommened in the literature. These two are lighter than air, and so will fill the bag like a balloon around your head. When searching for a helium canister it is generally recommended NOT to buy the common balloon gas cans, because those might not be pure enough. Instead, one should look for a professional grade cylinder that is guaranteed to be "Helium 4.0", meaning it has 99.99% purity.
