Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

My posts on this forum are constantly up and down "what about this?", "What if I tried this?", etc etc. So thank you all for sticking with me whilst I go through the thoughts and feels of different ideas and methods.

I wanted to go with SN, but getting it in the UK doesn't seem to be easy at all, or reliable, and it seems to come with risks. I was going to use Nitrogen and a sort of exit back, but even getting nitrogen seems to be difficult, most places seem to be out of stock. In the end, I managed to get my hands on Argon gas.

This is a 10 litre bottle with the following stats:

Water Capacity - 10 Litres
Approx. Height - 910mm
Approx. Diameter - 140mm
Approx. Gross Weight - 20kg
Approx. Nominal Contents - 2,2m3
Approx. Fill Pressure 200bar - 2900psi

With the above in mind, I believe it is going to be enough argon within the bottle for ctb.

I also purchased an argon gas regulator, as shown below. You can see the pressure is at 200bar. And I can regulate the flow to about 15-16 litres a minute fairly easily after testing.

I have a gas mask that I've talked about previously on this forum. The intake will be sealed to the argon gas, which should result in only breathing in the argon gas. My thought is to sit down, turn on the gas, get it regulating at the correct rate, take a couple of long breaths, make sure that everything is secure, exhale, put the mask on, and then just close my eyes and slowly begin to breathe in the argon gas.

Exhaling from the mask will result in it coming from a different hole in the mask, which only opens to allow gas to escape into the air during exhaling. It shouldn't open to allow fresh air in. It may look like there is an opening in the pipe, but it is sealed.

In theory, I feel like this will allow work. My concern is when the argon gas runs out, I won't have anything left to breathe in, since it's sealed. I don't want to wake up in a panic after all is done. Hopefully the gas is plentiful enough for me to ctb before it runs out, so when there is no gasses left of any type, hopefully there will be no waking up.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Releasing >1600 liters of argon at 16 lpm or below will take more than 100 min. You have to be an inhuman to survive such a long oxygen deprivation.

if that works and the mask seals tight you don't have to worry about that. I'd test if the mask is tight though otherwise you'll just sit there. Suprised it was easier for you to find Argon than Nitrogen. Good luck.

Thank you. I've tested the mask with it attached to nothing. If I plug the hole, put the mask on and try to take a breath, I get nothing, the mask just sort of pulls in around my face, so there is certainly no leakage as far as I can see.
Thank you for the help. I appreciate it, a lot.

I hear that many people actually want to use oxygen masks with this method because they don't feel comfortable with an exit bag and that whole putting a plastic bag over their head thing. These are not designed to keep the atmopshere out, just to push your Oxygen % a bit higher so they do not sit flush and you'd need a higher flow (and wider tube to deliver the flow) to keep that oxygen out so such masks normally are no good without special, more complicated preperation. A gas mask is designed to keep the air out because, well, wouldn't be much of a gas mask otherwise. With the use of chemical warfare in WW1 soldiers started to get close shaves, because with a beard, a gas mask cannot sit snugly. This is as true today as it was back then and also a thing to consider.

Yep that's the correct setup. An extra layer is to add hand warmers (Fe) iron powder in the mask which consumes O2 to generate heat, so minimizing residual oxygen to ensure flow purity.
