Yes.Turn on the VPN and then you'll be able to access the site after July 1st. Turn off the VPN and the site will become inaccessible. There are no negatives to really using the VPN. It protects your privacy. Internet speed can be a bit slower though. If you go for a paid VPN then you'll get much faster Internet speed.

Also, taking a longer subscription like 3 years will dramatically reduce the price of the VPN subscription. I used Cyberghost 3 year subscription a few years ago. Now that my subscription has ended, I started using the free VPN called Proton.

Ironic how this site is being banned, yet assisted suicide was just legalised not that long ago. :p

Yes just turn the VPN on when you want to visit ss after 1st of July and turn it off when you do other things as it can be slow.

Most people won't have access to it...........
That's because it only very recently got legalised. When abortion got legalised, it was very hard to have access to an abortion. But over time that changed. If this law isn't abolished then the same thing will likely happen, but it will take some time.

Is a VPN totally safe and everything? I don't know if I'm going to get one yet but I'm leaning towards yes, assuming it's safe and easy enough to use. I'm probably not CTB yet but I always imagined doing a goodbye thread just so I had company at the end. God I just realised if I don't get a VPN it'll be back to those dark days of going through suicidal ideation totally alone with no one to talk to about it :aw:

yep, they're safe and easy to use. most will have an app that has an easy on/off toggle. you're generally safer using a VPN than without one.

I'm a bit on a "🤓☝️" trip now, but just because you use a VPN, does not automatically mean that you are safe. It's also a question of whether the provider is logging your activity and maybe even selling that data or providing it so authorities. Of course, some logging is necessary to route your traffic, but then you have to trust the VPN provider to log as little as necessary and then deleting it after you are done using it. Free VPNs do often log and sell data, despite claiming that they don't. How else are they going to get money?

That does not mean that paid VPNs are automatically better. It also depends on the country the VPN company is based in. Sometimes, they are required to log data. Some examples are France and Australia.

Because Proton VPN is based in Switzerland, where they have strong data protection laws, Proton is considered safer than others.

I've rambled way too much now. What I want to say is this: You can use Proton VPN for bypassing regional blocks. However, I wouldn't use it for more than that. Just take caution when using these services.

Putting this here to suggest more trust-able VPNs:

That's because it only very recently got legalised. When abortion got legalised, it was very hard to have access to an abortion. But over time that changed. If this law isn't abolished then the same thing will likely happen, but it will take some time.
It was only legalized for people with terminal illness currently so most people aren't going to be able to access that. People who are physical suffering that isn't terminal or people who are mentally suffering aren't able to access it sadly unless new laws get made for them.

FWIW, ProtonVPN is only free for 1 device. As an alternative you can use Opera browser which has a VPN built in. Nothing against Proton, I've been using their email for a good while now.

Same. I'm worried I won't be able to access even with a vpn but I'm sure I'm worrying unnecessarily. The issue is it's going to cost me money and I'm broke most of the time

Interesting I'll try a free one

I'm not gonna slow down my entire internet just so I can have a SaSu tab open so I'm not really sure how to access the site, maybe I'll have to have an extra window open with a vpn browser in it. Very annoying.

I see what you mean and in that case, I think it's better that you use the Tor browser so you have your normal browser for any other activities and the Tor browser in parallel for SaSu. In general, I think that Tor is the better option over VPNs.
I don't know if you know how the Tor browser works, but it can be explained like this: Let's say you are using the Tor browser and want to connect to a website (e.g. sanctioned-suicide.net). After typing it into the address bar and hitting enter, Tor sends this request through three random servers (also called relays) in the Tor network. The first server is called "Guard" and the third one "exit relay". Only the exit relay is then sending your request to visit sanctioned-suicide.net to the SaSu servers. The SaSu server then sends the website's content to the exit relay and the exit relay sends it to the second server which then sends it to guard and back to you. Your request to sanctioned-suicide.net is encrypted through every server, so you can image your request like an onion, with every layer of the onion being a layer of encryption of your request.
Now, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) can only see that you are connecting to a random IP address (the guard) and cannot see where you are really requesting to, which makes it as private as it gets.

This is an example of what such a Tor connection would look like that I just quickly set up:
1751130262685
As you can easily see, the guard is a server in Germany. The guard only sees that your request wants to the server to the UK, so even if the guard is a government controlled server, they cannot see your final destination (sanctioned-suicide.net). Same with the server in the UK. It thinks, "Oh, I have to send this request to this server in Russia! I will do that :)" and so on, always adding an extra layer of encryption on the way. Same thing backwards.

I know that it is a bit slower. You have to send and receive your request through three different servers. But still, give it a try because I believe that it's more private than a VPN. Sure, it's maybe slower, but that's a price to pay to stay anonymous, unfortunately.

Anyway, If anyone reading this and deciding to try out Tor for themselves, feel free to PM me if any problems occur. I will try my best to help you.
