As a young adult I don't really have any savings to speak of. I'm not far off living paycheck to paycheck, especially with the current cost of living crisis.
I was planning that before I ctb, I will withdraw as much money as I can from my bank account (Including overdraft) and max out what I can on my credit cards. I plan on giving this to my ex housemate / partner who I know will be hit hard by my death. I'll likely only have a couple of thousand pounds to give her which I plan on leaving behind and referencing where it is in my goodbye letter to her. It's not much, but I expect it will help her out for a while with rent and all that.
A quick google tells me that debt is not inherited on death in the UK, so I'm assuming that this plan would work and the money wouldn't be able to be touched. Even in there were legal issues, It's only a couple of thousand. I doubt that'd warrant any investigation or attempts to reclaim it by a bank. What I'm worried about is if I referenced this money in a goodbye letter ot this person, it potentially being intercepted by police and her not getting the money.
Just wondering if I'm worrying too much or if there's anything I'm unaware of that could fuck me here? Many thanks.
