Hi All,

Not sure if this is really suicide discussion. But I just wanted to share two scenes from Doctor Who's episode on Vincent Van Gogh.
This episode always helped me come to terms with suicide.

The thing I love about this episode is that it doesn't try to deny suicide or spill some pro-life bullshit like most TV shows do.
It just accepts suicide as it is.

Hopefully this will help you guys come to terms or at least bring some relief.

I loved those scenes. Thank you for posting them. It's such a lovely idea to imagine him seeing how much his work is appreciated now- considering how it really wasn't at the time.

There are speculations that he didn't actually kill himself though... I'm not too sure one way or the other... I'm sure he did have ideation though. This is from memory- so- I may have some of it wrong but...

The tragectory of the bullet through the abdomen was odd. Why would he go out with all his painting gear that afternoon/ evening if his intention was to CTB? Where did his painting stuff go? It was never recovered. The gun couldn't be found at the time either. Where did he get the gun? He didn't absolutely confirm that he had killed himself when the police talked to him. To the question: 'Did you intend to commit suicide?' He replied- 'I think so'. There were a lot of strange things about it as I recall.

Anyhow- just in case you're interested, I found this which goes over a few of the peculiarities:

Haha. Yeh I know. I watched the episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved.

At least it was good to know that his work was appreciated eventually. I think that's all any of us can hope for.

Few months back I learned that he had severe depression and was suicidal. He also painted The Starry Night while being in an asylum. Since then The Starry Night is my desktop background.

Found also this song that is a tribute to him:

He cut his own left ear off after a heated argument with another artist. Ultimately, he shot himself in the abdomen in bed and died two days later. Cutting off his own genitalia would probably have the same result, but we would probably remember him in a different light.
