Venting trip prbly getting cancelled, now i’m staying for nothing

i've had a trip planned to a city for MONTHS now, my flight is booked a week from today. last night the person i'm going to see there texted me and said they may need to go home bc during the time that i'd be there bc they're not doing well and so i may have to cancel the trip. she made it sound like it'd not a fs thing yet but ik her well enough to know this is her soft launching it not happening.

ik this is super first world problem and there are bigger issues in the world but i'm so incredibly disappointed. this trip was just going to be me and her, no family or parents, and i was kinda thinking of it as a "last hurrah" before i ctb lol. genuinely been the only thing keeping me going for months. and now it's very very likely not happening.

wtv. ig if i'm ctb anyways i can just do it sooner now but still. really really bummed

I get you, it sucks when you get your hopes up just so they get crushed. Maybe if you like it and you have the money for it, you could go to a different city on your own. I know it is not nearly the same but maybe it'll give you some kind of closure or a final happiness

I'm sorry :/ I have a last trip hoping to my last hurrah too - hope it still happens or maybe you could plan something just for yourself even if it's a small trip or something

i wish, but unfortunately i still live at home and my parents still have some say over me, and would never in a million years let me solo travel. that's part of why i'm so bummed— if i can't go on this trip, i won't be able to like replace it. ill just be stuck at home absolutely miserable lol.

hopefully it maybe still works out tho im trying not to get my hopes too high. ty for the kind words
