Tourniquet method tips

I understand how it works but im concerned it will fail. I'm also concerned I'll be found especially as the marks wont fade easily. What should I use dressing gown rope or shoestring?, I can't acess proper rope. Any other tips?

Maybe the gown rope but a torniquet would work better.
