I don't know if it's just me. Or if other's are experiencing similar messages, threads, chats, etc. They have escalated for me lately so here is my response.
I don't think its fair to pick and choose which of us are rightful in our decisions to be here.
We are ALL right in our decision to be here, regardless of the reason we found ourselves here. If we came here for help, its available. If we came here for support, it's the most empathetic community I have ever found on the internet. If we came here for guidance to end our suffering, then that too needs to be understood in its own context.
For any pro-lifer's or people on the edge out there, I ask you this. How can you compare someone terminally ill, to someone cronically in pain, to someone so mentally in pain or even someone who idealistically just doesn't want to be here in the first place. How do you pick and choose which of these people is right in their decision to leave. Is it the value they bring to the community, or the potential you think they have in life?? Or the state of mind that you believe they are in when they are here?
I am genuinely curious how you pick and choose what is right for people to die? In my opinion the right is always on behalf of the individual. The one thing that most of us have in common on this forum is that we have all suffered in some degree. And from the time I have spent here, I have learned that there are so many different ways people suffer. But there is such common ground in what we feel. And how we support each other and grow from one other and ULTIMATELY support one's decision for their own body and life.
We are all here for the same reason. We are in pain. And it takes a certain amount of pain to consider a decision like this and an incredible amount of pain to overcome SI. If someone's pain is that severe that they are here in the first place, it is not our role to tell them it's not valid.
If you are here lurking and pro-life or on the fence. I just want you to know this. I have received more help and benefit from the damaged and vulnerable people who truly understand my situation than I will ever receive from you. You cannot convince someone their life is worth living when you don't understand their suffering. But we can learn from others who have suffered and are here to speak of it.
Luckily, the vast majority of us on here are of the supportive variety. I love you all, and if you don't agree with me please speak up. I do not intend speak on behalf of everyone. But personally this site has been a safe-haven for me, and I want to protect the value it serves to myself and what I presume it serves to others.
