Ik this seems unrelated but I promise it relates too this forum
.
*Obv spoilers for the movie* I watched thunderbolt when it came out in theaters and honestly I have never felt so seen in a superhero film outside of the Spiderman films. Seeing Bob and the void genuinely made me feel seen, particularly the void. Hes just darkness, his words are few and far between but when he speaks it hits. "You think they are your friends? We will always be alone." And the "arent you tired of fighting" are all phrases I beat into myself constantly when im in my dark days- speaking of
Bob.
Genuinely such a underrated character. The "i have days where I feel really good...but then it comes with all these bad days..." and hes saying this while running away to a room in his mind while the void autopilot him? As someone who maladaptive daydreams to escape during work, school,or even in my own home I feel this to my core. I have days where I feel like im unbeatable, im god then..crash. just empty hollow or anger or sadness or mania.
Its genuinely such a good representation of depression and how its portrayed atleast my version of depression.
I know some people dont like the "power of friendship" ending but I think it was perfect for the theme. Friends are honestly a good distraction from my void and some days I feel like its a battle between my void and my friends and usually for me the void wins but it was nice seeing friendship win on the big screen.
Im curious to know if anyone else with my issues saw the movie in a similar light.
