With most quality posters being either dead, banned or in recovery; I am finding this forum becoming a bit boring.

A few users wrote to me about their reservations in regards to writing openly on the forum about certain issues, and I can definitely see where they are coming from. This forum was never a barrel of laughs (although we had fun fairly often), but lately it became all doom and gloom. The sense of community is largely lost on me, and if it weren't for a handful of people here, I'd probably be gone.

I hope things will change for the better in the future, though.

I don't know how the forum was "before" since I haven't been around for long...but I don't actually feel like it's all "doom and gloom". It's just that a lot of people seem very desperate and want immediate help in their current living situation and express those feelings in their threads.

As for the other issue: Maybe there should be a way to be able to decide whether your thread can only be viewed by people having an account?
But then again I heard there is a new subforum anyway.

Well, I disagree with you on this matter.
I mean, I found this forum epic and unique unlike any other because we can talk freely about any subjects and I find it amazing to find depressed people like me and exchange our experiences, opinions and also, provide advice.

Besides, it's not all about sadness and suicide, the offtopic section rocks.

Well, that's my opinion at least. I guess I'll be around enjoying this website until I finally CTB. (next year probably)

Lots of hugs for you!

There were always desperate people here, that's not the issue. There is an air of joylessness here recently, as if the atmosphere changed somehow for the worse.

People are not reluctant to write because of the outsiders who might be watching, but because of other users. There has been a lot of hostility here lately.

I felt the same as you feel for a long time. I guess I was just closer with some people who are no longer active and the forum seems different without them.

I agree with @stygal. I've only been here a short time so I can't speak to the way things used to be, but it just seems like so many people are hurting and lost, and looking for a shoulder to lean on and advice.
But certainly, having a sense of community and support is so important.

I understand. I bet I'll feel the same as you in a couple of months too.
Well, let's enjoy our "company" as long as it lasts =)

Maybe you're just getting bored of being a here and should take a break? I feel like it's the same, I mean, this forum is not really supposed to be "fun" unless there's someone the occasional troll post lol.

Maybe you're right. I miss some of the trolls, tbh, lol. That anti-parents dude was fun.

I didn't realize Sanctioned Suicide was here to entertain you when you're bored. I'm sorry the trolls don't give you the "fun" you crave.

I noticed it too.

Maybe it's the quality of the posts (not content), somethings feel like diary entries. I noticed the shift in community as well, far more open aggression or trolling than I noticed last year.
Yeah, and moral grand standing and shaming became rampant.

Mhmm. I know I can fall into that, especially if I'm already angry. _(._.)_

I think the atmosphere is changing & I fear its verging on become like an IG comment section: no space for open opinion without ridicule.

Hopefully we can course correct as a community before that happens.

Edit: grammar

I'm afraid due to the nature of this forum as a community of people that are pretty much in the worst mental state possible, it might not be a good place for healthy discussions or for distraction and entertainment. And that's unfortunate.

It wasn't always like this, and we were equally miserable before.

Welcome to the Angelic "burn out." This feeling hits nearly all of the long time users. All I can say is to either take a break or stick around until you make new friends or connections.

it begins to be boring. What about the sub-forum? Is there more activity on it? I cannot access...

English is not my first language and sometimes I feel like I am not expressing myself as I should. I wrote a thread on the way I was feeling about a very painful situation and after 10 hours, no one had replied. Any sense of community I had is gone, I don't feel like a part of anything. I got a bitter feeling that this site is just a competition to fit into a steriotype so you can get some attention. The whole hierarchy thing makes everything seem like this is just a game. I don't get why you need this type of motivation, badges and medals in a place like this.

It seems every few months there is a lot of people leaving and then a new crop of people coming. It can be difficult saying goodbye to friends, and then feeling their absence as well as the void of their posts being gone. Being here a long time also does cause this sensation. Getting to know the newer people does help, and as they find their place in the community they also become friends. even the older members we loved and lost were new at one point.

Nothing much in the subforum, you are not missing out on anything interesting.

Just as I get used to seeing certain people, they are gone. But I agree with the sentiment you expressed.
