So they basically count all threads ever posted in this subforum as "encouraging suicide" - just because those are published under "Suicide Discussion". Obviously, the goal of these journalists is to just throw shit on the fan and see what happens next.

Contrary to this yellow press, which seems relatively harmless, Ofcom looks like a quite dangerous organization that could eventually become as monstrous as the Russia's RKN, which currently blocks access to YouTube, Discord, Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, X (formerly Twitter), FaceTime, LinkedIn, and many other popular platforms on the territory of Russia. Of course, RKN justifies this craziness by "safety". In practice, this country becomes more and more unsafe for living there, since the censorship became an instrument of oppression of those who dare to express disagreement with the politics of the government. "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety". Hopefully, British people are smarter and they won't spiral into this shit as Russians did.

I agree. Whilst I understand why people want to shut down this site I don't think it's accurate the way they report about it. I've been here and year and interacted with tons of threads. I've only come across 1 user that encouraged. Apart from that I don't see it.

yes exactly, but those other sites don't allow you to talk about suicide. you get socially/dopamine rewarded for talking about your car restoration project or politics or how shitty McDonalds is now, not that you're writing goodbye letters or asking for the best angle to hold a gun to your head

I always feel awful for people who are grieving loved ones and trying to find any kind of explanation for what may have contributed to their passing, but it's very unfair to place that blame on SaSu. I've seen more people legitimately and maliciously encourage someone to take their lives in comments on mainstream and easily accessible websites like YouTube and Twitter. And I don't think I've EVER seen something like that here. SaSu is honestly just a valuable space for people to discuss heavy and difficult thoughts about suicide that ad-friendly spaces wouldn't even dream of allowing.

Families and survivors have been left devastated by this incomprehensible decision that means more vulnerable people will continue to be groomed on the site and which will ultimately result in more lost lives.

I certainly do not believe that anyone is being "groomed." These people are choosing to end their own pains on their own terms, with extremely helpful resources.
I doubt they want people to die in such painful ways. I think of it as Switzerland suicide pods in a way.

The metro is a tabloid newspaper in britain, of course they're gonna clickbait. This may be less obvious to non-brits as I believe the newspaper isn't international but this is very much a tabloid (you see physical copies in busses and train stations for free!)

It's crazy because a ton of people read metro, and a ton of suicidal people are going to read Metro, and so many of them will go "There's a site for discussing suicide? That sounds interesting!" This is going to likely bring thousands of new people to the site.

tom was a 22 year old british boy who ordered SN from KL and ctb on it, after he did that, his dad investigated where he got it from and came across this site, finding KLs site after a member pmed it to him, he then contacted someone from the newspaper iirc to investigate further which ultimately led to KL being identified, toms dad is david and he advocates for this site to be closed and for sellers of SN to be punished

if you want to learn more you should watch the channel 4 doc "poisoned" the "cheering on" that tom got was people wishing him a peaceful death etc which the dad interpreted as encouragement as nobody did anything to try and check in on him or get him help so his life could be saved

I can't remember how I found out about SaSu. All I know is that I found the forum in 2022 and the rest is history..

That being sad, if anything this forum helped me in ways any other professional help couldn't help for the last decade. People here are genuinely kind and no judgmental and for the first time in my life I feel like I truly belong somewhere.

You might be right about the dopamine, but in a different context... finding this site was special for me. Here, I found a sense of belonging and acceptance from people who truly understand how I feel—people who are generous with their comments and caring in the way they "listen." On a bad day or during a crisis, yes, we receive the dopamine of love and feel a little better, and that makes all the difference. But of course, because of the stigma we face, it's easier for others to look away and label us as crazy or radical; after all, pain is something that cannot be seen or measured—only the person feeling it knows it, and that's that!
