• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

And this conversation can be had anywhere online about anything. Every major hobby/social media/sport community has a few things they are often repeated.
oh yeah. we used to make memes on ed twt (eating disorder twitter) about how it was all about the same 5 or 10 topics. we even had exactly the same cyclical drama 😭 man that feels so long ago.

lol. I feel you. There really are a lot of the 'same old' posts on here. A lot of the people on here most likely won't go through with it. That's evident with the "Goodbye, overdosing on table salt in three hours" type of posts. Some really are just trying to get some type of attention, one way or another. Some posts stuff on here that should probably be posted in the "Recovery" part of the site, as they may get the type of attention and response they want. There are a few people on here who don't repost the same "I hope you find peace" response. A few. Sometimes, though, that's really all that can be said, depending on the post. However, I do get your frustration.

I don't know you, but I'm open to conversation while I'm still here.

Talking about entertainment, I really like your username. As someone that loves hamsters, I approve.

Regarding the topic of this post. I understand the frustration, although, you know, the posts shouldn't be for entertainment purposes but rather as a way for the users to vent their frustrations or share their story, ask for help, etc. People join at different times so new people may ask questions that were already answered. I usually try to search before making a post, to see if there's anything similar, but the search isn't very good in my opinion. Always finds the most recent comments on posts so it's hard to just search for an actual post. The more words I add, the more the search feels ineffective. Maybe it's just me that doesn't know how to use it but so far this has been my experience.

Given the topic of the website, it's also hard to feel entertained. People here are suicidal, everything is depressing.

Personally I find it carthiatic to write out how I'm feeling. It helps to get it out somewhere and see others are feeling the same, and not feel isolated with my thoughts and emotions.

What did you expect really?
For the userbase to not act like Redditor chuds.
As far as the "half assed" responses… what else is there to say?
At least someone on here admits it's all half-assed.
This place is extremely repetitive, and many of the mature, thoughtful posters that we once had have moved on.
Hopefully they aren't dead.
There is nowhere else like this
There's Reddit.

Might as well talk with a brick wall or an AI. A fucking AI writes more thoughtful shit than the users on here do and a brickwall won't gaslight you.

What depresses me is how places like this show the nothingness of it all. There is no happy ending, some people just live terrible lives and die, that's it.

I feel what you're saying. I think I gained a lot from venting many years ago. Ironically, the site always kept me alive by giving me a space to be heard and gain some shared humanity. I had never shared my feelings in real life. I needed it.

I would keep sharing when you feel like. No two stories are alike and no two people think the same. Sometimes when you share you'll get a handful or more of people who truly listen. It's better than any community engagement you'd get on reddit.

It's just the same threads over and over again. This is how every thread goes on Suicide Discussion

Person A: "I'm suicidal."
Person B: "Your choice to kill yourself or not"

And no one goes through with it most of the time (which is a definitely a good thing) but my point is what is there left to discuss? If I talk about how I feel, no one clearly gives a shit since thousands of other users have expressed the same feelings as me. They'll just write the same half-assed response and move onto the next thread where they write yet another half-assed response.

It used to be different on here. The threads used to get a lot of responses. Many of the responses were well thought out and people took the time to answer you personally. You didn't feel like you were wasting your time posting something like you do now.

I wouldn't say this site is as bad as Reddit yet, but it has gone downhill a lot. It started going downhill after the NY story. Not right away, but it gradually got worse. Many of the more mature and insightful posters left when things went downhill. Some of them formed smaller groups on Discord.

Honestly, Ive been noticing that almost everywhere.

It feels as if responding to anything feels pointless, my opinions are not really unique to myself. Someone's already had that that thought before. It feels as if everything's been done, but its just said by a different person with each generation. Echo chambers within echo chambers with no goal of change, just blind, unfiltered, yapping.

In one way, it's nice that it's one way to connect with people. Makes you feel less alone in this small world, even if that feeling is fleeting like everything else.

In the other, how does one think of something no one has thought before with the information that is not accessible to us? We're just gonna relate it to something we already know/comfortable with. To expect something like that from the average person is oftentimes rare, but not impossible. Expect disappointment with that.

Who knows if we'll ever find more things to talk about that aren't so familiar? Some people are just learning things that's been common knowledge elsewhere, and they must've felt satisfaction (or dread lol) from that. After a certain point I stopped being condescending to people like that and just watch how they react to what I know in curiosity of what they think. Something like that, for me, never gets old.

I never usually come on here as much as I used to, because I kinda just accepted life for what it is and do whatever I wanna do thats possible until i run out and ctb (I know not everyone is like this), but honestly, I don't blame the people who say the same shit over and over. I do that too. I know there's no answer for my woes, but I say it anyway because I can and I don't care, it's the same shit, different day until I die. I gotta complain about SOMETHING to kill time lol.

I just find it kind of weird to complain about something you don't have to pay to belong to and, you're not forced to stay in.

I'd agree with @-Link- , if someone finds every post repetetive and boring- post something new and interesting! If they find the responses they get repetitive and boring- find some place where they're not.

Maybe that's another problem with this place being portrayed as some sort of death cult by journalists/ You Tubers. Maybe it's a bit of a let down to see that we actually aren't goading each other on to do it. There aren't live suicide attempts every other minute.

With regards to people actually taking the time to read threads thoroughly and, respond thoughtfully- some do, some don't. Probably depends sometimes on how much in the way of strength we have ourselves that day. We're the blind leading the blind effectively.

I was thinking kinda the same thing the other day. But yet it's comforting to me to be here . I always appreciate the users that have been on here a while for whatever reasonAnd there are always newcomers here which means potential for different opinions.
And I think @Forever Sleep he should get a major shout out as they follow their own advice and constantly make new and interesting posts. Sometimes I wonder if they make a list of topics :)
