I've been going to a psychologist to get myself sorta, checked out, I want to know what's giving me these urges and emotions, but they allow me to let out my troubles while there, and they attempt to act supportive...but this help, and this support- to put it simply. Just feels like a reminder that I won't get better, and that I'll have to go through with this. There's nothing that willl work.

Therapy really depends on your therapist in my opinion, either you get people who don't care or are in it in the money, or rarely you get really nice people that care

I feel the same. I stopped, because the "talk" part of the therapy was just unburying things that I would rather not go back to while pretending we were working on this. The constant pulling my tongue to talk more was so infuriating.
Prescription part was also weird... either something that would make me jumpy and annoying or something that would make me sleep all day. One doctor was trying very hard to get me on drugs for my ADHD. Very expensive, at that time it was about 1/5 of my monthly pay... Just for a promise that they would most likely improve my functionality, but at a cost of so many side effects.

To me therapy is just a way to profit from people's suffering, I'm not even surprised it made you suffer even more.

Sadly, therapy can take some time before it actually starts helping you. It takes time to sort your feelings, for your therapist and for yourself. It is normal to feel helpless and lost and therefore worse.

I know it is so much easier said than done but don't give up yet :)

Tyerapy is worthless waste of time. I tried every way possible to work on myself but nothing can change your environment family or shitty situations that kill inside not even a therapist

Unfortunately, therapy can destabilize without a guarantee of re-stabilizing. This is similar to why many clinics resist offering therapy for many clients. Their goal is to stabilize, and therapy counters that short-term goal 🙁

Or is there some technique I'm missing?

Of course, you're right that many clients do get desirable results. Depends on details, the practitioner, the client, etc. But failure is also a likely outcome in any human endeavor, and clients should understand that

Huh? Normally you go to therapy during a psych ward stay

Many/some places resist offering 1-on-1 talk therapy. Instead, they have group therapy, art/dance therapy, etc. The reason they give for this glaring omission: they're out to stabilize, and such therapy destabilizes

But I recall you work at some kind of hospital (?) and may have far greater expertise than me

Whaaat, I never heard of that before? I had the whole package lol, group therapy and 1-on-1 therapy sessions. I wouldn't have made it with either of those missing. It was both very important and helpful to me.

It is complicated and I'd prefer not to enclose much more on the forum :) you can always dm me tho
