For me, the words I love to tell/ hear (from) myself the most are: 'You don't have to do that right now. It doesn't matter if you do nothing.' It's extending to just about everything- getting up in the mornings, all household chores, work. It's another reason I know death is my preference- when I don't want to deal with anything associated with life. Of course, it doesn't help long- term. All that shit does need doing.

I suppose I also tell myself that I can get through whatever it is I'm struggling with. Chances are, I've had to before.

As to kind words other people have said to me. I used to love it when people said I was similar to my Mum. She died when I was 3. I have a cherished hope that I am like her. I'm doubtful now though. I doubt she was as bitter as me. I also respond well to validation. People acknowledging that certain things in my life must have been difficult.

What are your 'sweet' words? Either that you say to yourself or, that other people say to you.

I dont tell myself nice things. But some random kid came up to me and told me he liked my hair when I was at an appointment. That was super sweet of him. It was a couple days ago but I dont get told sweet or kind things so often so I still remember it. If I wasnt so dumb I wouldve told the kiddo he had nice hair too but I just said thank you.

I also remember like two years ago someone told me Im handsome. Random compliments are so sweet of people. I genuinely love them. It makes your day and makes you feel less shit about yourself. Especially when you dont get them so often.

Its kind of dark but I like to tell myself in moments of despair: "it will all end someday, you'll be okay"

"Despite everything, I'm not disappointed with you."

The first one is because I hate myself, and I have impossible to meet standards set for myself that although I recognize they are impossible to meet, I just can't stop thinking they are the bare minimum. So it was nice to hear someone recognize that I'm flawed instead of the usual pleasantry you say just to make someone feel better but still say they aren't disappointed despite of my shortcomings.

This is from someone else, don't rlly have anything I say to myself that helps.

Most things people say to me are platitudes, whether it is from people I know or strangers. Even if it seems like a compliment, often it is just the words they think they are supposed to say in the situation... so they mean nothing to me.

But... if I had a woman I cared for just say that she loved me, that she sees me, appreciates me. That would be awesome. I've never known those feelings.

I think there was such a moment when someone told me sweet words, but I don't really remember it anymore.
I don't know if there something I tell myself, sometimes some ""voices"" pop up in my head, they always say things like "I hate you" or "I love you", it's not really me innescating those thoughts, they only arise in some moments. I'd be really curious to know.

I often comfort myself with hopes of a better afterlife.

There are so many things I wish someone would or could say to me.. it doesn't work so well to say them to myself. But one thing I like to tell myself is that I am just a speck, and none of this matters, I will die someday and this world will too.

I fantasize about others calling me nice pet names, telling me they'll hold me until all the pain is gone, "I love you just the way you are," or "you never have to change for me," or "stop saying sorry, there's nothing to be sorry for", or "it wasn't your fault," or "you're my #1 priority".. lots more. Unfortunately they'll never be said to me most likely.

I tell myself often that "I'm proud of you" and "you're going to be ok" full knowing that whether I ctb today, a year from now, or decide not to I will be ok. I honestly just want rest. I'm so exhausted.

On some deep level, I am most reminded of one interaction in a dialog with my father. I don't remember the whole premise, but once I asked him if he would like me to be different, if he would like another better son? He even let out a tear and said "no, never". Relationships with parents are difficult, maybe we don't have some ideological foundations and similar views that unite us, but such unconditional love is certainly warm in a special way, even if it is intertwined with fear or something else.
