Distance massage is the new niche market :blarg: sounds like rainbow paint or a left handed hammer. Someone is bound to buy it.
Here in the UK we are all waiting to see what happens when the states come out of lockdown too early due to economic pressure.
Second Wave is the term being used now.
Yay, we're the test country for screwing up!

Wait.....

Seriously though. I mean yeah it's shocking how people were like 'people need to have enough money for 2 months' yet companies worth millions somehow can't go weeks without going under without a bailout, even after closing without paying employees--meaning they apparently didn't 'save enough for 2 months' like they told people who couldn't do that. But yeah, there are places in my area STILL shutting down more. Because since they didn't do a total shutdown, their employees they said were 'essential' contracted covid-19, and, wouldn't you know passed it on to at least 20 others within days (as in symptoms showing), then they had to shut down more, and more...

It's sad because these people contracted it at work. Even at my workplace, we have a driver who had it, and refused to stop driving! He was taking loads, driving across state lines, and infecting people all over the place! like wtf? When people here found out he did have it they were like "no! get the hell home/hospital!" they didn't care if he did need the money, they weren't going to be part of the spreading the disease to literally hundreds and risk deaths on the road.

It just convinces me more and more of the prevalence of potatoism.

Hate to say it, but as far as I can see, everyone is just waiting to have their fears confirmed by a second wave in the US. That's what I'd do if I was running the UK government and Trump wouldn't listen to advice to continue lock down.
The economic cost will be worse if it goes tits up, as well as the cost to life.

But realistically there's no way of getting out of this without a decimation of the human populace.

While I figure there will be a surge in cases once they open up probably, I REALLY hope those most likely to be affected are cautious and still maintain precautions. Especially since they're telling my area it's now hitting the 40+ age groups hard, not just the 60+ (as in also killing)

Anyone with any sense will just stay locked down if possible and if succeptible.
Trouble is it won't really work unless everyone does it. It's all too connected.
I'd pessimisticaly suggest that the plague will not recede until it's removed enough of the world's population to disable it's own spread.
We cannot be relied upon to curtail it. If we could, we wouldn't have allowed the population expansion and fragile society that has brought us to the point of such fast transmission and incipient societal collapse.
But maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. I hope there is no second wave. But if not...we face the same problems that brought us to this point, and we'll carry on potentially making the same mistakes until the next plague that comes to bring the population back down to more reasonable levels. We are trapped in a feedback loop.
Nature does not give up and doesn't care about us anymore than we care about the microbes in our gut.
Having said that, I have just bought some probiotics. :blarg:

I know this might sound absurd to say this when people are literally dying from covid, but I am sad I won't be able to go on a holiday this summer. I always book a two-week vacation somewhere near the sea, because I love swimming in salty water. It's now spring and I feel such a longing for the sea and the summer sky...

But I fear all hotels will be closed throughout the summer and camping is not an option with my health issues.

Yeah, no chance. No tourist industry left anyway. I miss the coast too. Cornwall.

My Internet is a apallingly slow. It's like being back in the nineties on dial up. Broadband my arse. Old adsl so it must be contention issues with everyone at home ordering loo roll.
Add to that my inability to use a phone keypad and my politically correct predictive text and I'm having to edit all my posts.
So from now on I cba editing. If my posts contain gibberish (more than usual) then enjoy it. :blarg:

Dial-up, oh what memories. Waiting 15 minutes to check mail.

"Please wait to be connected"

You wait, sweat, swear, wait some more, play with the mouse, swear again

It's going to sound weird.... but nature has started to take back the earth... birds, plants, wildlife.... it's almost like humans are the real plague. They seem so happy without us crowding them out. Kind of like the planet created the virus with the intent of it non-stop circulating and mutating just to take us all out until either we all die, or those that survive just realize that we need to exist in harmony with nature in every sense.

Keep in mind I say this when I honestly have no desire to ctb now (never said anything on the boards but like 2 months ago I had what was really an attempt that would've succeeded, but I stopped shy of the last parts), I've felt weird posting in the main forum, and recovery seems weird as I know it's... well... I could hit that again.

Doesn't sound weird to me. I think that's exactly what nature is doing. All part of a natural homeostatic feedback loop. We didn't take care of things so nature is doing it and we are part of that.

Carina, I'm sorry you got into the position where you made an attempt. I didn't know.
I'm really glad you are doing better now. And yeah, it can still go either way, I'm kinda in that boat too. Still fighting. Why not post in recovery? I'm sure people would be happy to hear some good news.

Aaah my ocd is making me edit my posts. Why does my predictive text want to write 'gladiator' instead of 'glad'? This is making me look like an illiterate old man.

Only a handful know. And only some really knew that I was serious (some that knew I think thought I wasn't going to--I was). We're talking 2 hrs from final dose of meto, then... well, yeah. I knew I was never going to post here, I was just going to fade away lol. Seriously it was one stupid thing that made me not do it... odd but , hey, I"m here so there's that. Seriously if my mother knew that her making one food item and offering it out of the blue stopped me... she has no clue.

And yeah I could, but, that seems, just odd too. I mean the whole recovery seems a bit... well let's just say the things that led to it are overly personal, and involve something that I won't say... so I just feel like it's best to not leave it up for questions

But back to happy? thread stuff lol.

We've always had animals roaming the roads here. There's actually a gang of delinquent sheep that break into people's gardens. Beats having to mow the lawn if you ask me.

@Carina Yes, there are protests around the world. This is Vladikavkaz. People were told to stay at home however nobody is paying those people so they have no money for families.

I can understand that. If you have no choice then what do you do? Survival of the individual or the family comes before survival of the society or the species. That's how we are wired. That's why we will inevitably, eventually face a drastic decline.

But on the other hand after recession we can see a rapid economic growth.

Without doubt. And a reestablishment of society, mass food production, trade, international transport, population pressure, wealth gradients...and the process continues in cycles over the decades.
Do you really think this plague is an isolated instance? What will come next? We've already had various plagues in the past. What makes this one so different?
All part of a much larger and more nebulous natural process that we are too caught up in to see.

I was waiting for an economical crisis in the end of 2019 long before the first covid case. However, now it seems to me that it is much better to create this crisis now rather than to wait when it comes itself. Man-made crisis is manageable, "accidental" recession is not. First, it will be a very deep hole, however will be still manageable. But I have doubts concerning oil price. Hope a huge demand after reopening will correct the prices. Otherwise things may be tough. This pandemic is not worse than any other. We see 183k deaths from covid-19 and 150k deaths from flu this year, I am not sure if it is possible to defeat covid pandemic at all, more likely covid among other respiratory diseases will be every year, so that is the thing we will have to get used to.

Well my state keeps on increasing numbers.... and they're doing a 100% open in like 7 days. We're gonna be screwed considering businesses are shutting down more to protect workers still.

They keep on trying to not test people to make numbers look better (seriously).

I saw an interview with Angela Merkel, Germany PM today. She sounded reasonable and earnest. No excuses. They have a really low comparative death rate.
All the while the news tickertape underneath was rolling 'Trump playing down dangers of coming out of lockdown.'

yeah like apparently in my state, they were like "instead of 400+ deaths, we only had 300+!" yeah, and apparently instead of 478 newly reported tests, you had 83.
It's more of a thing where who knows what might happen... there's so many still with it that are working.... release restrictions.... who knows.

All along we've seen trump play it down and the opposite has happened. It's safe to say that pattern will persist. So whatever he says, expect the opposite!

So apparently anon has hacked the WHO and a few other medical establishments. They were dumping information in real time. I wonder what will come to light out of this.

Wow. I never trust all the statistics. 14 years making info-graphics out of statistics from various sources, the stuff provided always had a slant on it. You had to correlate multiple sources over long periods of time to get anything statistically viable. Which I did and it pissed them off.

Someone will crunch the figures and bring light to it at some point. But really, no-one actually expects government figures to be accurate or completely transparent, do they?
