This won't be a particularly exciting story, I just felt like talking about it though. And who better to talk to about it than the sanctioned suicide community?
I'd e-mailed someone on Thursday, and told her I'm going to kill myself. I think she phoned a hospital, and the hospital phoned the police. The NHS is great isn't it? They don't bother to help you themselves; they just contact the police.
So the police came. They asked me what I was going to poison myself with; I said poison. They asked what poison; I said I'd rather not tell them. They asked me to show them the poison, and said they couldn't legally take it off me. I played safe and didn't show it to them. I think I admitted that I'd got poison in the flat but didn't say where in the flat. After asking me a few questions, they phoned a hospital, and I spoke to a nurse on the phone. I told her I'm planning on poisoning myself, but didn't tell her what poison I've got. Basically she did nothing to help me.
The police asked me if I'd be all right. I said no. They said they had other calls to go to and couldn't stay here. And they left.
So basically the NHS phoned the police, and the police phoned the NHS. Why not cut out the middle man? What was the point of getting the police involved at all? Why didn't the hospital contact the hospital in the first place? It seems completely pointless. It seems like they just wanted to pass the buck and aren't interested in helping me. Maybe I should contact the police and suggest they prosecute the hospital for wasting police time.
So, predictably, the hospital did nothing, and the police did nothing. Despite the fact that they know I've got a plan and a weapon. So why did they bother to do anything at all? It was a waste of time. And now I'm going to die anyway probably within the next 2 weeks. So what was the point?
