Why do you think that? The method is also in the book "five last acts". The author seems pretty confident about it.

Thanks for this detailed thread! Do you or does anyone know if it's feasible to do it properly and thus successfully for someone trying it for the first time, or is a bit of experience required? I'm planning on trying it later today while drunk.

I've tried this and similar several times. I couldn't get it to work though. I had a hard time closing only my carotid artery, so my head filed with blood and I aborted my attempt. The closest I came was when I place the socks further away from my adams apple and more or less below my ear, instead of just to the right of my adams apple.

Thanks, I'll try this next! I keep just getting to the point where it's so tight that I'm suffocating instead of restricting blood flow sadly

Update: it didn't work :(

Okay so I've been trying now for several hours, but yet can't find the "sweet spot" to make myself start going unconcious. I'm thinking it has to do a bit with both weight and blood pressure, as having less fat around your neck would make it easier to locate the arteries, and having a low blood pressure would make it easier to halt circulation. I'm wondering if I taking medicine to lower blood pressure would help with this method then?

I just tried this afternoon. It didn't work. I used the tree ratchet and cornhole bags. I thought I located the carotid arteries and strapped the cornhole bags tight with the tree ratchet. I didn't pass out. I kept tightening it, but only experienced mild discomfort in my neck and a little bit of a headache. After 90 minutes I gave up and took it off.

Just tried again for another 45 minutes, with nothing to show for it except for red marks on my neck. Damn, this doesn't work for me. Maybe it's because I've never passed out before, or because I have a thick neck. (I played American football in college.)
This sucks because my already-miserable life is going to get much more miserable starting next week. I guess I need to go back to looking for bridges to jump off of.

Good luck, everyone!

Hi there, I think it's still too early to supply diagrams or photos indicating exact spots, for the following 2 reasons:

(1) Whereas my success rate is no longer zero, it is still just approximately 10 percent, i.e. 1 out of 10 attempts at locating the "sweet spots" on both sides simultaneously is successful at present. So I need much more practice here.

(2) As mentioned earlier, I am presently able to attain a near loss of consciousness, but not full unconsciousness. The sensation is one of detachment and mild euphoria, akin to that said to be experienced by teenagers when they play their "fainting game". So here too, I need a lot more practice.

As concerns the approximate location of the spots:

Along the vertical axis, the spots are located in the upper third of my throat, entirely in contrast, for example, to the tests conducted here (where the pressure was applied to the lower third of the throat):

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3848716

I'll occasionally continue to try the lower third too, but am much more impressed by the upper third.

Along the horizontal axis, it's best to start applying pressure starting at the edges of the thyroid cartilage and slowly working your way outwards toward the carotid arteries. Don't go too far out or you will start constricting the jugular veins too, which is not a good idea, I've heard.

As I also mentioned earlier, use of both thumbs alone is enough for me to attain the state of detachment and mild euphoria described above, so I'm guessing that in the final setup - whether ratchet strap with bags or blood-pressure cuff with pads, or whatever else - the bags/pads will not need to be very large, and would indeed become counter-productive beyond a certain size.

My hands are positioned as shown in the attached photo, except that the thumbs are free and used at the front to apply pressure to the throat.View attachment 196675

I'll continue providing updates as and when important benchmarks are attained. Good luck!
I've been trying to find my sweet spot for so long now (aka that was my first considered method back in 2024) and your advice with the thumbs and hand behind the neck actually worked! Thank you so much :)

I've tried figuring out where I can squeeze my carotids but I don't think I've gotten anywhere close to passing out (not currently trying to CTB, but trying to prepare information for contingencies should I need to). Does anyone know where to grab along my neck, assuming that's the right place? I can feel the pulse along my neck, but not where they're least protected enough to squeeze by hand.

Additionally does anyone have info about the reliability? I've heard various users mentioning this is unreliable/difficult to execute, but it seems like a near optimal method if possible, so I'd really like to see if I can make it work.

Anyone have any guidance? Thank you for any advice you may be able to provide.
