I think SaSu isn't close to dying. But one can speculate about the end of this forum.
Someone on here wrote a goodbye post because he/she/they feared legal repercussions where they live for being on here. They didn't specify the country.

Maybe the end of SaSu won't be a loud big-bang. And rather a quiet goodbye. With more subtle censorship. For example the need of a VPN to access this site. How many UK users have we lost?
Search engines less often show this forum. I think to my time when I found it it was way easier to find it in google.

I think though it is quite paradoxical. All the people who claim to hate this website and consider it purely evil make huge free ad campaigns for this forum. The media outlets do that. And all these Youtubers who report about it for some quick bucks. I think without this coverage the forum might be dead already. Imagine there was more shadow banning, more subtle censorship without any outlet/influencer who reports about it so frequently. However, suicide will always be a phenomenon. And a suicide recession seems unlikely considering the shape of the world.

Theoretically, users on here could bee pressured more with legal accountability. I think though legislators are aware that committing suicide shouldn't actually be a crime in free, open and democratic societies.

Youtubers and the media tell young people to stay away from this site and then tell them the name of this site. I don't think they really care, they just want views.
It's like telling a teenager " hey don't go there there are drugs in that area! ", they are going to go there.

Yes I think they are the reason the site is used so much. Tantacrul's has 6 million views. The other videos I forgot. At least tantacrul had the decency to censor large parts of the website but the others were just basically giving free advertisement. I think if tantacrul had never posted the video this site might have already been dead. It is true that some news sources were reporting about it but in a much more discreet way... It really makes me wonder about the intentions of some of those later youtube videos. Like someone else said it's just to make some money but that feels so sick to me, pretending to care about suicidal people and yet handling it so carelessly while also literally redirecting people to the site.

Site still has way more traffic since tenta video, there's also the fact that we get our yearly free unsolicited advertisement via youtube or big black cock news. So unless the site was removed from the internet it's going to be around. There's just going to be more and more demand for this site as the suicide rate goes up.
As Rain said, there's always been suicide sites like SS around we aren't the first and won't be last if SS dies. Even without free ads, we'd still get new users.

YTers say that SaSu promotes CTB, but then leave out the fact that we literally have a recovery forum where ppl can go if they want to get better???

I don't think it's just views they want. I think they genuinely believe they're doing a good thing. But suicidal ppl who don't want to recover or have been suicidal long-term have nowhere else to go. Reddit maybe, but then you get ppl who are like "don't do it, it gets better!" What ab all the ppl it doesn't get better for?? Should they continue to suffer? It's like they think mental suffering is all curable, and it's illegitimate to end one's life because of it, but it isn't. Many of us have tried therapy and medications. I was on meds (that's pending rn) and am in therapy. I have for years.

Some people just aren't cut out for life (in this reality, anyway). That's not a phrase to demean anybody. Until we have a world that can address treatment of neurodivergent folk and physically disabled folk and not the symptoms of it like depression/anxiety (and a lot of times they can barely even treat this bc they don't know what tf they're talking ab), we shouldn't interfere in someone's decision to end their suffering and we damn sure shouldn't be surprised when they take their own life.

There's no way to prevent a suicidal person from ending their life. Not by banning a forum or censoring info on how to CTB. Medicine and therapy isn't prevention; it's symptom management.

Anyway. Yeah, I think the media and YTers think they're helping, they're really just demonizing suicidality that isn't just ultrakill prevention.

I would actually be kind of curious about how the demographics of this site would change if it was only accessible on the dark web.

Times change; the forum format is very 2000s. I've seen groups on Telegram and Discord about the CTB, which, in my opinion, are much more straightforward in an era where everything moves faster than before. Well, that's my two cents on the subject.

I find it interesting how people with suicidal ideations are encouraged to share their feelings. Then when we have a forum which allows us to do just that, the YT "influencers" and "psuedo-journalists" try to score cheap views by sensationalizing the environment. I've said it before, SaSu allows me to express myself much more freely than therapy - and that is primarily for 2 reasons: 1) anonymity; 2) an overwhelimingly supportive group. If government and society in general do not want sites like SaSu to be accessible, then they are going to have to replace it with better mental / physical support systems. Of couse that costs money so it is easier to block and ban resource sites than it is to actually fix the problem.

Reddit is not an option. I was permanently banned and muted from the suicide sub on there for no reason and they did not tell me why. They also delete all the useful comments that actually help without notifying the commenter or the poster. The Reddit suicide sub is actually the secret pro suicide group and this is the only place where we can openly talk to and get support from our peers.

These people don't care about suicidal people. If they did, they'd be on here on the recovery section trying to talk people out of suicide. But the only people on the recovery section on here are other suicidal people. People not bothering to engage with people on this website are performative and don't really care about us.

Agreed, they care about "treatment" at crisis point but preventative measures that should be instilled long before crisis point are ignored because individualising and medicalising distress is easy but changing society is hard and they don't care about us.

I'm also from the uk and its easy af to get on this website and I only found out about it because they talk about it all the time on the news

There will always be some sort of SaSu. Just like prostitution or drug trade never stopped, there will always be mentally ill / suicidal people.
SaSu will always exist, it will just be rebranded or pushed into the onion world.

Mentally ill and suicidal are two different things that don't necessarily go together, just saying.
There are circumstances under which it would be abnormal not to be suicidal.

I think instead of trying to say "this is normal" and "this is abnormal", we should have compassionate understanding for the diversity of ways different people react to their own circumstances. A person should not be viewed as offkey for not being suicidal any more for someone being suicidal. As for the mentally ill and suicidal category distinction, I think it is worth considering. But whatever it is, "normal" is subjective.

Yeah true, it wasn't the perfect wording. Maybe better: circumstances under which most people would be more likely to be suicidal than not.
In addition, such circumstances might not be accidental but some people are being driven into suicide intentionally.

don't even bother using google. they censor and hide too many sites. both duckduckgo and brave censor sites way less. give "sanctioned suicide" a search on each one of these search engines and youll see.
