Sometimes we are better off viewing people as individuals rather than members of groupings (age brackets, genders, nationalities, etc.). Suffering is suffering, and it is never a good thing. A 'tough' individual may be hard to break, but is unlikely to have the sensitivity to help evolve the human race out of primitive conflict and ecological destruction. Hence the relative sensitivity of the younger generation is appropriate for the modern era.

The best possible outcome from this point is helping the youth cope with the numerous personal and global challenges of the day. Sometimes learning to be more detached or stronger is a partial solution, other times it is not. It seems impossible to speak too broadly with any accuracy. But hopefully it is clear that I intended no harm with my earlier rebuttal.

According to a websi9te called self.inc the national debt at the start of the Clinton years was 4.4 trillion and it was 5.8 trillion at the end of his time in office- I did see these numbers on a couple of other websites, and this is a 32% increase in the national debt during his time in office

Humans only have limited energy. People need to divide the tasks. It's inefficient to have all people doing all things. Weaklings grow up in greenhouse, they are not meant to be fighters. They don't even need to have children, or sex. Reproduction requires a lot of energy. They only need to develop and use their brains. Only
advanced societies have extra resources to let weak people live on.

But the world is harsh. When a society have too many naive people with no sense of external threats, enemies can easily stir up troubles within you. Collapse of great civilisation seems to be a very common thing.

I wish I grew up in a greenhouse.

I would develop on my own pace. Maybe learned to play piano.
Learned math without distractions. Without being bullied by people who dont care about anything.

I actually might have turned into something useful.

But it is interesting to be judged by people with different perspectives.
Even judged by the values of the past.
Judge by people ,even if they forget to look at themselves in the mirror.
Who many times fail to see the value of others.
I just wish people could use history to learn from it, not just to judge people of today.
