Thanksgiving

Where will you be? Both of my my parents are dead, and my only sibling (sister) lives out of state. I'm dreading the call from my maternal aunt to join her extended family. They are pretty good people, but I have zero in common with any of them. Id rather share the holiday with relative strangers. Plus, I would have to drive to a relatively remote location and I'm becoming more anxious about such drives. I'm trying to decide whether to go or think up a believable lie to avoid it. Any thoughts?

It's not good to isolate, I'd consider going but it's up to you, I can totally understand you deciding not to go! I'm sure they'll understand if you make up an excuse not to go. Sorry you're faced with this decision!

Do whatever makes you feel happy. Don't feel obligated if you know you will feel out of place and awkward. Personally Id rather celebrate christmas in a bar with strangers than associate with my fake ass family.

My family is several states away. Normally, my wife, kids and I would eat dinner and watch Christmas movies. My wife took the kids and is gatekeeping their communication methods (email and phone). I'm alone for the first time ever for the holidays. I thought about CTB this weekend, but decided to wait until at least next weekend or the first weekend in December.
