I just tested my SN with the Aquarium test. I did it exactly how it was described in the SN Bible thread. But I do not understamd why the first cup (where I put 500ml distilled water and 2,5g of SN) has a yellowish tone.
The 2nd cup looks more like the result it should have(where i put 1ml from cup 1 in it). I tested both cups a second time , to be sure. I will also do the blood test soon.

Cup 1:
20250526 112525

Cup 2:
20250526 112520

On the thread, the aquarium stripe from the first cup was really red.

You have to scroll down a bit

Thanks just took a look, the test strips might behave strangely at high concentration if not designed for that. If you look in your instruction manual that came with them it may have a max value.

It seems according to the bible you need to focus on the second dilution, which is at a known low concentration.
Are your strips for nitrite only or is the last square for nitrates? Just curious why that is so red

Did your kit come with its own chart for comparison? How do your results compare to that?

They are not for nitrite only. The first square is nitrate, the second nitrite and the third chlorine

This is giving me flashbacks to chemistry class (which I enjoyed by the way).

Yes it came with one. the highest colour for nitrite is dark pink to purple. The yellow tone does not match with any of these colours for nitrite on the chart

Your first sample is probably off due to high concentration, I'm hesitant to give you a definitive answer since I haven't seen your instruction booklet.

But if pink is positive you can say there's nitrites in there. Personally I would also be concerned that nitrates reacted also

Yes, that is also a concern of mine. I bought mine from a trustworthy site. Someone here adviced me to buy it there , since they also have a registered office in Germany. Which is great because it did not take long to arrive. Anyways I checked and it says it is Sodium Nitrite and should have a purity of 99%. I hope there is not any Nitrate in there, given the test stipe.
Should I make the test again ?

It could also be because many nitrate tests reduce nitrate to nitrite first, then use a color reaction. If nitrite is already present in high concentrations, it can trigger the color change directly, even if no nitrate is actually there. That is what I heared but I do not know if it is true.

Yeah I'm not too sure I've never done much research specifically on this, I just know about chemicals in general. If you've got a lot of SN and are still unsure you could try with a different brand of strips, the same as the bible if you can find them would give you some certainty.

To be honest if you're buying from a reputable supplier they would have tested the SN prior to sale, does it have a batch number on the bottle? For many suppliers you can look up their quality certificate on their website using the batch and product code.

i think it seems pure. it should be a baby pink color i think. i did my test too and got kinda a similar result but still unsure if pure or not cuz the colorings for nitrate and nitrite are so similar. I posted it on my page. I dont know if i have the guts to go through with it anyways cuz im scared it will be really painful. i hope you are able to feel better.
