I suppose theoretically yes.
But It would make you throw up so I don't know how it would actually work.

In case anyone is intersted if the AI is accurate, some googling says the same. Apparently usually found in children and infants who were force-fed salt. Gotta love humanity!

There's no way you're going to manage to ingest 100g of salt and also keep it down IMO.

You'd need to take about 1/7 of one of those normal-size cylinder-shaped cardboard containers of salt, which contain 737 grams. That's a lot of salt.

I vividly remember my time as toddler snatching a package of salt from the kitchen counter. Just when I was about to ingest a tablespoon full of that glorious white powder my mother quite furiously stepped in preventing me from doing so. I wasn't amused either. I liked salt a lot more than sugar. Maybe SN isn't so bad...

I've actually thought about this in the past. Excess salt will kill you, but it's also really hard to pull off.

I don't think you could get even close to a toxic level of salt to be toxic, let alone fatal.
You will possibly cause severe organ problems, making your life even more challenging. 🤗🌹💔

It is possible, you need very little, only about 2 tablespoons. However, death is very slow, taking sometimes days.

This is absurdly wrong based on actual case reports of people who have died from salt toxicity. I really wish everybody would stop asking AI how to do anything. It is so blatantly factually inaccurate at most things.

AI can provide factually incorrect advice, please be careful following such.

Can you in theory? Yes but it's slow and painful and likely not very reliable. Judging studies on people who attempted.

I am circling back to this thread to amend my response to idk3's post. My reaction was one of frustration and anger which lead to me saying something much harsher than deserved and inadvertently got a post deleted.

So first, apologies to idk3 for how I responded to their post.

I would like to further amend my response by saying the AI answer could be factually inaccurate due to the sources I cited, but still has its merits. The post originally cited this paper, which discusses sodium in the context of humans. It has this to say about sodium toxicity:

An acute toxicity from excess sodium intake with the possibility of fatal outcome has been reported in relation to the ingestion of huge amounts of sodium, such as 0.5–1 g of salt/kg body weight. In certain pathologic conditions (e.g., heart failure, decompensated liver cirrhosis, and renal failure), sodium intake to levels routinely present in our diet (≥10 g/d) may lead to a dangerous increase in ECF volume.

However, even under normal conditions, the intake of high amounts of sodium tends to favor, especially in predisposed individuals, an increase of ECF volume and BP. The Intersalt study (2) showed that the higher the habitual consumption of sodium in a given population, the stronger the average BP increase with age and the prevalence of hypertension.
The amount of 0.5-1g/kg is based on calculation and not real world evidence and so I immediately dismissed it as the papers I cited showed that people could theoretically die from much less. I still believe this number may be wrong, however this article mentions something lacking in what I cited: weight (and I will also add hydration). While the g/kg may be different from what we have direct evidence of, it does make the point that weight plays a role in successful toxicity. Even the tried and true SN protocol has adjustments for weight going above the usual suggested 25g. This is something very important to consider if moving forward with this method.

The truth is, this is an undeveloped and under-documented method and, as such, any information from a credible source could be valuable to figuring out how to make this work. Read the article, think about the information presented. For that reason and, the general kindness that should be show to strangers on the internet, my original reaction to idk3's post was grossly uncalled for.

Holy shit I remember my friend accidently swallow some sea water when we were little
He got so sick from something called "vibrio", which is a bacteria found in some fish and/or shellfish. Nasty stuff.

I think you would become incredibly dehydrated / sick/vomit and get better rather than dying. I don't think you'd be able to keep it down
