  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Suicidal people need to revolt one day or we will be further marginalised with all good methods banned and our voices silenced. I mean thanks to shoddy journalists they want sites like this (that have like-minded people who actually care) and relatively peaceful methods like Sodium Nitrite to be banned from sale. If someone is not responding well to medical treatments and each day is a living hell then why do they continue to want us to live and suffer? What are their solutions to our problems exactly? Phone services? More pills? psych ward prisons? I mean come on now! If you can get better then more power to you. But if you have tried all society's shoddy methods and got no results then what else is there to do? Are we supposed to just slowly suffer until we are old and senile? I have seen the pain of my loved ones die with cancer and dementia and let me tell you it is unbelievably upsetting to witness. Some pro-lifers don't even want people with terminal illnesses to die peacefully, never mind other people who aren't. Same with these anti-abortion bastards. They want babies to live, but then when they grow up many are abandoned and thrown onto the streets. These people pretend to care, but they are just pro-longing the suffering. By the way suicide is not a sin nor a crime and if it is then I will happily commit it.

It seems as though many people do not respect the right to die. It is cruel how people are expected to suffer for decades against their wishes. I wish we lived in a world where people could end their suffering peacefully at a time of their own choosing. Taking away peaceful methods would just mean that people have to resort to risky and traumatic methods to end their pain. It would not reduce suicide.

So true. Doctors are ethically bound to save lives. They are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. Ive seen drs in tears because my mum was dying in her own filth. We must accept that life is not forevermore. We all die in the end and we should accept and embrace it as part of life.

i have nothing to add, this is just extremely based.
You just did by calling my post, extreme. You don't think what the pro-lifers are doing is extreme? You don't think it is extreme that they want to take away this site and ban peaceful methods like Sodium Nitrite? You don't think it is extreme that they want to lock up people in wards and tell them to phone hotlines that can only offer platitudes like life is a gift sentiments? You don't think it is extreme that they are treating suicidal people like basket cases and blaming them for encouraging their relatives (who are also suicidal may I add) for ending it all? Yeah, well it is extremists we are up against here, so think again.

It is such a hellish place to be in as a suicidal person! I mean I am infuriated to my core by the sheer amount of sadistic, manipulative and stupid actions these prolifers take on a daily basis, whether covered in media or not.
But it is still a helpless situation for us. The moment you go outside to fight for your right or just express them the actual reality, there is a danger for suicide watch, psych jail or others so called neuro typicals to remove you from the social strastophere all together for being suicidal.
And the worst part is that as a person living with suicidal depression or thoughts, you will definitely not be in happy, logical or some other 'positive' state that these prolifers want you to be in to argue. We will be vulnerable, exhausted and in constant pain and sufferings. It is not likely to go well with such people.
I believe we are in very uniquely but equally painful position as compared to some other issues of this generation, not just because of the nature of the problem but mostly because of the complete lack of knowledge and even willingness to understand by others.
Just my opinion.

death with dignity is very important. I think many people agree with the concept but don't want to say it out loud.

Let me share this from quora. the person who posted is a coroner:

In fact, my nomination for the worst part of being a coroner? Witnessing the true lack of dignity death imposes upon us.

I think that one cause of non-suicidal people for wanting to prevent suicial people from ending their lives, is that they are stuck in an in-group preference psychosis, meaning that they think that human lives are worth more than other creatures' lives, which results in us, as a society, slaughetering chickens and other animals by the millions every day, yet we deem human life to be superior.

Hmm...I wonder how aliens would look upon our strange, narcissistic behaviour, which makes us kill other beings in a blood-thirsty manner, while we do everything in our power to prevent humans from dying.

I would offer an observation here: Folks who have an inclination to commit suicide will, in some respects, tend to "weed themselves out of the population" at a higher rate than the "background death rate" for what I suspect are self-evident reasons.

I'm also wondering what a sort of "revolt" would look like. Not that I'm opposed to a push for rights in this vein, I'm just trying to envision what's being suggested.

[I'd also note that "good methods" are a relative point...there are a number of non-medical methods that are not exactly able to be banned, but whether they are "good" or not is definitely in the eye of the beholder.]
