Just let me say first how much I hate people. A girl in the office decided to tell everyone that someone had jumped off a freeway ramp and that it would now take forever to get home. The other assholes in the office were just as complaining. My first thought was that person must have been in so much pain. He didn't survive. How brave or maybe desperate to have jumped off the freeway ramp onto traffic. I wish I could have gone with him. had he invited me I would have. Sad, just really sad. but he is now out of pain and that is a positive point.

I completely understand. The only person keeping me here is my cat. I've had her for 13 years and I just can't give her to somebody else. Once she goes, I go. I look forward to that time.

I feel the same. I have 3 cats, one of which is under 2 years. But damn is extremely tough to keep existing.

I know what you mean. There are days I wish it were her time to go so I can go. I know that's terribly selfish.

When I was younger an acquaintance committed suicide similar to this. He backed up a major commuting artery in his death, probably one of the most important commuter arteries in the whole metro area.

I remarked to a friend about what had happened and he messaged me he had been stuck in the traffic due to the guy and then had many nasty comments about why was some loser holding up his day. This is the mentality of your typical American and why nothing in that country will ever change

Sweet Pea has been through a lot. She is not friendly and is terribly skittish. She had to be on anti anxiety medicine when we drove here. She gets very stressed out. I feel since I took her in it's my responsibility to take care of her until she dies.

I agree 100% There is no mental health assistance in the US. You're on your own.

It's the worst. The assistance that is available is either filled with people who have little to no empathy, or just has no funding. It's horrible.

Oh, I thought they wanted to know why i was living for my cat. Apologies. I've had a fucked day but that's no reason to be bitchy.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I'll tell you why I don't want to live. I have no one. I have no family, no friends - all I have is my cat. SHe loves me. I love her. My little girl committed suicide due to her step-father, my father is gone and I don't have any other family. My life sucks, I'm old and I've lived long enough. I hate people and I'm getting angrier with life as it goes by. I'm just tired of living. Thank you for asking

This happened to me recently, someone jumped in front of the train I was on, and all of the passerby who had to change to other trains too were either making snarky comments, complaining, or insulting the person that died.

I am sorry you have to work with these jerks. They do not understand how much pain this guy had to endure for him to resort to such a brutal method.. It is likely a very foreign feeling to them, and they suck at empathising.

I read many of your posts about you and your Sweet Pea, you've been through a lot. I do not have anyone in this world either, so I understand how badly you are hurting. I wish both you and your kitty the best.

Someone commits suicide, presumably a stranger they know nothing about , and the default reaction is to insult the deceased.

Wow

I am so sorry you too have no one. I could adopt you - not literally but I've found better friends on this site than I have in "real" life. If you ever need to talk I am here. I understand.

I can't understand a person who would say something cruel about someone who CTB. I'd venture to say most people who CTB were generally normal people

The horrible attitude stems from a protective measure; by assigning hostile remarks such as "loser", "hindrance", and other such insults, bystanders distance themselves from contemplating the circumstances that have led to this person's suicide. It is much more mentally taxing (and potentially dangerous to one's wellbeing) to empathize and feel sorrow in these situations, but a quick jab at their direction solves the issue with remarkable efficiency. In this world, people are afraid of standing still and questioning the rights and wrongs of our current state of affairs, they're just pining for the next distraction that they could give two shits about.

a guy jumps into traffic and that's supposed to be okay? it isn't for many obvious reasons. and second of all i also wouldn't like to be stuck in a traffic jam because somebody felt like jumping there. just jump from a cliff already and don't bother other people.

I think that people are selfish and many simply do not understand as they are not suicidal themselves. No one should have to resort to methods like that in the first place, we all deserve the option of a peaceful exit at a time of our own choosing. It is cruel how the society tries to force us to live and expects us to suffer for decades against our wishes.

It's disgusting to me how little sympathy most people show for suicides. Obviously there's no obligation to have sympathy, but when people fail to have any it just angers me. It tells me that they would have probably none for me either. They just don't understand this space of mind.

This cuts both ways. Who is more selfish here-the person who is willing to puts others' lives at risk by jumping into traffic, or the people who complain about such a selfish act?

In my book, the jumper is the bigger asshole. Suffering does not entitle anyone to endanger others.

It's a universal law: human beings bitch and complain. About everything. Then they'll bitch and complain about people bitching and complaining. I feel for anyone driven to end things in that way. Then I'll bitch about it because I'm human.

And yes, I'm not a fan who involve unwitting others in their efforts to leave.

Highway suicides of any sort are much more likely to kill or harm others. It can be more difficult to empathize with the one who wants to die when they are willing to risk other people's lives in the process. You're just becoming your own form of suicide bomber when you're willing to take that risk.

I relate to everything you say. I had cats and got through some hard times because I felt I had to live for them. Then I had one last cat who suddenly died last month at the age of 13...most of my cats lived to be older, one even made it to 20, but even though I took good care of this cat she's gone now. I feel good about having stuck it out for all those little lives. I am free and this is a good time for me to die, I just wish there was a way that seemed solid to me.

Not pushing anyone to do anything, but why does something like this require an invite? I mean, if the method seems good to you, then just do it if that's what you want. Maybe, it's the old adage that "misery loves company"?
