Does one nail drives out another?

What are your thoughts on this idea?
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?

My personal experience with this thought/idea/proverb firstly was when my mom had a daughter
and she died, she was so sad, couldnt handle the pain, so the doc told her to have another
so maybe the pain ceases, and she did, thats kinda why I am here, as a biological reason.

The second experience with this was the first time I fell in love with a girl, as the relationship
got so unstable, I had to leave, didnt liked it being alone and handle the loss, so I searched
for another relationship, In wich we both ended up hurted.

In my experience it does help normally. Sometimes it compounds

In my case, all my problems (and my strengths too) are caused my a certain thing I couldn't fix, so nobody wanted to be my friend early on in life, which made me isolated, I missed out on a lot of stuff that others learnt, and it just snowballed in a negative way to other issues.

In software development there is a thing called Technical debt, which is basically about this. If you don't fix problems early, they will cause more problems down the line, you'll need to pay for it in one way or another, might cause performance issues, or make introducing new features harder.

Not the best example, but apparently introducing new message reaction icons on this forum is pretty difficult. You'd think something like this would be easy and fast, but for some reason it isn't.
