Struggling to succeed

I have to succeed in the night night method in the next 3 hours or I'm doomed. But I can't get it right. I found where my pulse is and put my socks filled with sand on there, used tape to keep it secured but other than having a hard time swallowing nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?? Do I need to make it tighter?
